Ukrainian Foreign Minister: Chance of War with Russia ‘Growing’ After Troop Movements

Source: Mediaite

ABC’s Martha Raddatz spoke to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia on This Week With George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning, and asked if his assessment last week of a high chance of war with Russia had gone up after recent Russian troop movements.

“We are very much concerned about this development, the deployment of Russian troops on our eastern borders,” Deshchytsia said. “We are ready to respond. As you know, the Ukraine government is trying to use all the peaceful, diplomatic means to stop Russians. But the people are also ready to defend their homeland.”

Deshchytsia said the situation was becoming more inflammatory, as any action by Russian troops in eastern Ukraine would likely provoke a response.

“The chances for war are growing,” Deshchytsia said. “We don’t know what Putin has in his mind and what would be his decision. That’s why the situation is becoming even more explosive than it used to be a week ago.”

I absolutely believe Putin and Russia would not be pushing the envelop if it were the so called "BUSH DOCTRINE". Fuck you Neocons! Did you really think others would not justify their aggressive actions based on your logic?

and his dictatorial ways. No invasion of Iraq = US a much more respected world leader better able to lead the world against Putin

And one more thing, it would mean US people would not be understandably weary of dealing with the rest of the world, would be more willing to do the right thing for Ukraine and democracy in Eastern Europe.

Anyway you slice it, Neocons have really screwed things up

The Neocon justification is no different than however many other previous justifications in history. I don't think a guy like Putin needs anyone else to go first.

Because it comes from ABC? Obviously the Ukranian fella feels that way and probably has well before this all took place and obviously most of Russia's military is in the giant plateau next to Europe and Ukraine (it always has been). This is all par for the course US media driving the Cold War narrative (build up) following the US government financed coup in Ukraine. They are just trying to sure up their portion of the financial pie (natural gas) that is in Ukraine. Well done neocons You've got half of DU on your side while our own citizens are financialy still in the crapper!

I have a feeling this may be related to all the posturing on TV calling the president "Weak". So far Putin has done what he has said, nothing has changed. And I read an article a week back that the exercises were planned before this all happened. And they were over some days ago?

population and military is in the Russian Steppe next to Europe. If they are amassing close to Ukraine they would have all the right in the world to. If Mexico suddenly had a coup and a new controversial (half fascist) government with 50% of the people seeming to be anti American...would we reinforce our military in Texas? I'm thinking the US would do it just to send a message. Russia, if they are doing it, would be doing it to protect Russian speakers. Americans as a whole tend to miss that aspect...Russia is more about Russian speakers than imperialism. Russian speakers to them represent their heritage and culture.

It seems debatable on how much control the fascist groups have in the government. However, let's assume that they have full control and it is how you frame it.

Would you support US intervention in a south/central american country if there was a fascist or socialist coup in any of those countries? If the answer is no, then the answer should be the same for Ukraine.

Do you really think that the US bought and paid all those people off? Is there any real evidence to suggest that the majority of those in charge of Ukraine are fascists? So I take it you would fully support Russia sending troops to gain control of Ukraine?

Cool prophecy. Even cooler labels.

Not much to say about your premise, supporting evidence, conclusion or analysis... 'cause it's just not there.

But still... cool prophecy. Like the Mayans, but without art or redeeming qualities.
