SATELLITE SPOTS 122 OBJECTS IN MALAYSIA JET SEARCH

PERTH, Australia (AP) — A French satellite scanning the Indian Ocean for remnants of a missing jetliner found a possible plane debris field containing 122 objects, a top Malaysian official said Wednesday, calling it "the most credible lead that we have."

Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said the objects were more than 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) southwest of Australia, in the area where a desperate, multinational hunt has been going on since other satellites detected possible jet debris.

Clouds obscured the latest satellite images, but dozens of objects could be seen in the gaps, ranging in length from one meter (yard) to 23 meters (25 yards). Hishammuddin said some of them "appeared to be bright, possibly indicating solid materials."

The images were taken Sunday and relayed by French-based Airbus Defence and Space, a division of Europe's Airbus Group; its businesses include the operation of satellites and satellite communications.

New satellite images satellite images provided by Airbus Defence and Space have shown 122 potential objects in the southern Indian Ocean where search efforts for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 are now being focussed, said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic).

"The new images were received from France and taken on March 23," he told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

"The images were given to the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) who then passed it to the Australian authorities."

"MRSA analysed the images and - in one area of the ocean measuring some 400 square kilometres - were able to identify 122 potential objects."

Hishammuddin said some of the objects were a metre in length while others were as much as 23 metres in length, adding that some of the objects appeared to be bright, possibly indicating solid materials.

He, however, cautioned that none of the objects had been identified yet nor could it be linked to MH370 before verification. – March 26, 2014.

MORE TO COME.

Seems like all we hear about are high altitude sightings with nary a followup.

Let us hope all the reconnaissance and rescue crews return safely from their challenging tasks.

Something bigger than the waves and with remote recovery flight vehicles.

Even aircraft carriers just have to deal with it--if you'll look on Youtube you'll find footage of 100,000+ ton cargo ships getting batted about as if they were toys. This is the comparatively placid late-summer weather, by the way. It gets much worse.

One device being brought onto the scene is a large towed array usually used for submarine hunting. That may be able to pick up a signal from the black boxes--if it gets there in time to hear it before the batteries die.

Some sort of highly specialized remotely operated vehicle recovery of the boxes, much like that used with Air France 447 only much, MUCH more robust, will have to be used once the wreckage is better pinpointed on the bottom.

It could easily prove impossible to recover the boxes from the cockpit at all. If the craft was actually ditched without disintegrating and the fuselage sank largely intact, it might well fall nose first to the bottom at a fairly high speed, and plant itself in the sea bottom like a lawn dart.

They've botched this investigation so badly that I refuse to believe any story that begins with "Malaysia says...".

I'll wait until AUS or someone in the EU or US confirms. Then I'll start believing. Until that happens, I consider the plane lost and unaccounted for.

These objects clearly have been planted to fit the "official story" that the plane crashed.

Obama personally hijacked the plane.

I hope it is for the sake of the families of the people on the flight but the scale of the search is staggering.......these 122 items could be anything from pieces of wreckage to containers and wreckage from any natural disaster .......it seems so cruel on the relatives whose lives twist on these news reports..
