On Politics: U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson goes after Hillary Clinton at GOP convention (WI)

Source: WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson slammed Hillary Clinton during his speech to Republicans gathered in Milwaukee for their annual convention.

The Oshkosh Republican said he had "kept those promises" he made to voters when he ran for Senate, like his vow to oppose "Obamacare."

But he accused former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama of lying to the American people.

He said Clinton, likely Democratic nominee for president in 2016, lied about the tragedy in Benghazi to "cover up her dereliction of duty."

The Republican crowd booed at the mention of Clinton's name

"The American people deserve to be told the truth," Johnson said.

"The Democrats, the liberals, the progressives, they’re relentless in their denial of our freedoms," he added. "If we’re united, we can win, we can save this nation."

Democrats quickly responded, saying that Johnson is an embarrassment to the state of Wisconsin.

I wrote to my (R) Assemblyperson who said "just because it was brought up, doesn't mean all the Republicans agree on it &quot I'm possibly paraphrasing and too lazy to look up the email reply).

Keep the clowns coming.

Not surprised that this is coming from one term Johnson, he has nothing else to talk about. He is just another rich guy, is it wonderful what getting married to the right person can do for you.

Ron Johnson is the jerk Hillary responded to during the Benghazi hearings with the now famous quote: "With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they'd they go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make?"

I guess her response still burns his a$$.

He wanted to get under her skin and asked questions that she had politely answered for hours between the House and Senate hearings. It was only human nature that she responded with frustration. It was a very real moment.

However, I assume that she likely wishes she had not used exactly those words because the Republicans have thrown them back CONSTANTLY in a very distorted way to imply that a woman, visibly emotional when she and Obama met the bodies, did not care -- ie "what difference does it make?" referring not to nit details (as it really was) but to the fact that they died.

I suspect that this will be most of the Republicans - and the reason is that Hillary beats all their candidates and this is the ONLY issue not a decade old. Not to mention for their core base this is why Obama should be impeached, Hillary discriminated and Issa hints that "covering it up" was in fact a criminal issue.

The RW can repeat it ad nauseam, so what? If it wasn't that phrase, they would have found something else. If Hillary worried about every utterance she made in case that it becomes a sound bite used against her, she would just freeze in fear. At this point in her life, she probably doesn't give a crap what her enemies think of her.
