Russian law bans swearing in arts and media

Source: BBC

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law banning all swearing in films, television broadcasts, theatres and the media.

Offenders will face fines - as much as 50,000 roubles (£829; $1,400) for organisations, or up to 2,500 roubles (£41; $70) for individuals.

Where disputes arise a panel of experts will decide exactly what counts as a swear word.

And Putie go's further down the rabbit hole.

On May 1, Russian Nazis, nationalists and Stalinists marched in the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Many Western readers are not aware that these displays of xenophobia, antisemitism and chauvinism are now common in Russia. Nazi flags are carried in marches alongside flags representing the Tsarist empire, and, frequently, beside those representing the Soviet past.

Russian fascist groups did not appear overnight. Already in 2008 Amnesty International estimated that there were 85,000 neo-Nazis in the country. . . . These groups thrive in today’s Russia because of protection and support from the Putin administration. Eurasianism is the basic ideological platform for a number of these groups. It is also the ideology that has been embraced by people close to Putin. Founded around the beginning of this century by the Russian political thinker Aleksandr Dugin it represents a blend of fascism and Stalinism. Dugin’s major work, The Foundations of Geopolitics (1997), has been described by Timothy Snyder as following closely the ideas of Carl Schmitt, the leading Nazi political theorist. Eurasianism, says Snyder, is “the creed of a number of people in the Putin administration, and the moving force of a rather active far-right Russian youth movement.”

I suspect the basis for it is old-style anti-communism, with a healthy jolt of the old Jewish Bolsheviks line of Jew-hate, along with a bit of the 'we both hate decadent democracies' line that spiced up the old Hitler-Stalin pact....

Putin Human Rights Council Accidentally Posts REAL Crimean Elec Result-Only 15% Voted For Annexatio

Putin's Human Rights Council Accidentally Posts Real Crimean Election Results; Only 15% Voted For Annexation

The website of the “President of Russia’s Council on Civil Society and Human Rights” posted a blog that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to the Council’s report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout was a maximum 30%. And of these, only half voted for annexation – meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.

The fate of Crimea, therefore, was decided by the 15 percent of Crimeans, who voted in favor of unification with Russia (under the watchful eye of Kalashnikov-toting soldiers).

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

To make sure no one misses this:

Official Kremlin results: 97% for annexation, turnout 83 percent, and percent of Crimeans voting in favor 82%.

President’s Human Rights Council results: 50% for annexation, turnout 30%, percent of Crimeans voting in favor 15%.

Regime Change in Russia is the Goal of the Sanctions. This is what this is about...so not surprising to see lots of media putting out stuff..."some of which" turns out later to be misinterpreted or outright propaganda. We shall see with this latest which it is. If it's true it will stand up to scrutiny.

If you don't know who Hass is...look up yourself. He's the usual propaganda tool Wall Street goes to for "expert Government Opinion." You know the drill.

"Pro-Kremlin journalists win medals for 'objective' coverage of Crimea"

Vladimir Putin gave 'Order of Service to the Fatherland' medals to 300 journalists known for Kremlin-friendly coverage

snip//

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, secretly gave prestigious awards to pro-Kremlin journalists for their "objective coverage" of the events leading up to the March annexation of Crimea, it has emerged.

Putin awarded medals of the "Order of Service to the Fatherland" to 300 journalists including several editors, directors and television hosts known for their Kremlin-friendly coverage in an executive order signed on 22 April that was not made public. After the well respected newspaper Vedomosti first published details of the awards on Monday, presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the order had been signed but declined to provide details.

Boris Korchevnikov, a host on the state-owned television channel Rossiya 1, told the Guardian that he had received the award but refused to discuss it further.

The awards indicated the Kremlin's approval of Russian media outlets that have told a dramatically different version of the Ukraine crisis than that shown by western media, regularly referring to the new Kiev government as a junta led by ultranationalists and fascists.

53. Right Wing Watch: Bryan Fischer Urges US To Adopt Russian-Style Profanity Ban
Thu May 8, 2014, 09:51 AM
May 2014

American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer has found yet another policy of Russian President Vladimir Putin that he loves.

Fischer devoted a column and a segment of his radio show today to praising the law Putin signed this week banning profanity at “at arts, cultural and entertainment events.”

“Could a similar ban be instituted in the United States without violating the First Amendment?” Fischer asks. “Of course.”

Speaking on his radio show, "Focal Point," Fischer argued that “states are perfectly free under the Constitution to ban profanity if they choose to" because the First Amendment was designed “to protect political speech” and not “profanity, obscenity, vulgarity, or pornography.” In fact, Fischer said, the Founders would “would be absolutely aghast” at the thought “that they were crafting a document that would allow the unlimited use of the F-bomb in polite society.”
