Angus King endorses Susan Collins

Source: Politico

Count Sen. Susan Collins as the only incumbent lawmaker this fall likely to be endorsed by both Rand Paul and a member of the Senate Democratic caucus.

On Friday, Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), a former governor who caucuses with the Democrats, will throw his support behind Collins, a moderate Republican senator.

“I’ve seen firsthand her work ethic, her intelligence and her integrity. She always puts Maine and the country first and isn’t afraid to cross party lines to get things done,” King is expect to say later Friday in prepared remarks. “I think she’s one of the Senate’s MVP’s — smart, tough and always willing to listen. In my book, she’s a model senator, and I’m delighted to support her reelection.”

How again is she a "moderate"?? Because she talks a good talk?

Votes are what matters, not bullshit talking-points. Susan Collins is no different in her voting record when it comes to crucial bills than the likes of Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, making her a bona fide Rightwinger.

I have never trusted Angus King and have never voted for him. He has already said that he might caucus with the Republicans next session. He thinks they might take over the Senate so he wants to keep his power options open. I am still furious with the DSCC for totally ignoring our Democratic candidate in the last election because they didn't want to anger Angus. The powers that be don't like Shenna Bellows so it won't surprise me if she is also ignored if she wins the Democratic nomination to oppose the very Republican and not very moderate Susan Collins.

No comparison, Ben Nelson was and will always be far superior to King.

He should have remained neutral. Shenna Bellows is incomparably better than Collins.
