Militia groups moving to help secure Texas-Mexico border

Militia groups moving to help secure Texas-Mexico border
5, 2014

On Saturday, the Brownsville Herald reported that a coalition of "Patriot" groups has put out a call for supporters to go to the Texas-Mexico border for an operation called "Secure our Border- Laredo."

According to spokeswoman Denice Freeman, the operation is a call for civilian militia members -- both armed and unarmed -- to guard private property in Texas locations like Laredo where owners feel threatened by “drug cartels and from gangs, particularly the MS-13 gangs,” a Salvadoran-based gang considered among the most dangerous in the country by law enforcement.

Freeman also said militia members will become more visible in border communities over the coming days. She also said the group's commander, Chip Davis, is warning members against using violent means.

"This is not a ‘go-in-guns-blazing’ kind of thing,” Freeman said. “This will be handled with the utmost professionalism and security and safety for everyone involved.”

But Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said he doesn't want the militia in the Rio Grande Valley.

Doesn't mean...at all...that those people are real Christians.

The right wing in this country is as far away from the person and teachings of Jesus Christ as you could get. Its a religious game they play to keep the rubes in line and voting against their own self interests.

Plus they rake in the money like manna from heaven baby!

from the above mentioned link:

On Friday, the Free Republic's Jim Robinson posted a notice that militia members from California were joining up with Texas groups to help defend the border. Robinson said the groups are also rallying to "protest Obama's lawless open borders policies and to rally support for Governor Perry to officially call out Guard units and Texas militia units at his disposal to defend the border."

"Ok, this is just the germination of the plan," he posted.

"Lawsuits will not cut it," Robinson added. "The invasion is happening now. Action must be taken NOW!"

When one of these teabagger assholes kills a Mexican citizen, it will cause Andrew Tahmooressi to be immediately taken to court and issued the maximum sentence they have for gun running. The Mexicans are already pissed at us over the Edgar Tamayo execution.

That's the bad. The good is, the American people will finally realize the Founding Fathers did NOT intend for private citizens to start a war with a foreign country when they wrote the Second Amendment, and some of the excesses of the teabagger movement will be legislatively reeled in - starting with a ban on assault rifles they can't get their rifles around.

has tried to rally these "militia" troops for border duty before.

It's not like these guys are retired special forces, you know.

Usually, only a few show up and not all are armed.

They stand around in the heat, get in everyone's way, then go home, with no casualties more severe than a few scratches from the local flora and maybe a hang-over.

This is the most stupid-ass thing in the world, but I doubt that anyone is in even mild danger.

At least I hope.

This is actually what I always thought should happen with extremists of any type.

Put them together in close confines (desert is confining) and let them 'have at it.'

Leave the rest of humanity out their war games. Let them play Walker Texas Ranger and see who goes home later.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely their aim will be good and some innocent will get killed. So I've always nixed that.

If the militias want it to be handled professionally, then they need to leave it to the professionals.

These border town county sheriff departments are all understaffed and over-worked, and their time and attention does not need to be wasted by having to baby sit people who will just get in their way.

I just hope a few gutsy journalists get to ask these militia members what they do for a living, what sorts of jobs allow them to go wandering into the wilds of south Texas with guns, ammo and potential human targets for days on end. Those kinds of details were missing from that ugly Utah incident.
