Militia groups moving to help secure Texas-Mexico border
5, 2014
On Saturday, the Brownsville Herald reported that a coalition of "Patriot" groups has put out a call for supporters to go to the Texas-Mexico border for an operation called "Secure our Border- Laredo."
According to spokeswoman Denice Freeman, the operation is a call for civilian militia members -- both armed and unarmed -- to guard private property in Texas locations like Laredo where owners feel threatened by drug cartels and from gangs, particularly the MS-13 gangs, a Salvadoran-based gang considered among the most dangerous in the country by law enforcement.
Freeman also said militia members will become more visible in border communities over the coming days. She also said the group's commander, Chip Davis, is warning members against using violent means.
"This is not a go-in-guns-blazing kind of thing, Freeman said. This will be handled with the utmost professionalism and security and safety for everyone involved.
But Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said he doesn't want the militia in the Rio Grande Valley.

(16,286 posts)yep, time for a fucking revolution
jesus people, how much more of this can we stand?
I mean, am I wrong?
If the revolution can be peaceful at the ballot box, awesome, but how can we continue to live among vicious, dangerous, violent racists?

Its like the saying: The Devil can quote the Bible chapter and verse. So can Sarah Palin, Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh, Ted Cruz and his Dominion/7 Mountain cultist daddy and every other hate filled theocracy loving teabagger you can think of.
Doesn't mean...at all...that those people are real Christians.
The right wing in this country is as far away from the person and teachings of Jesus Christ as you could get. Its a religious game they play to keep the rubes in line and voting against their own self interests.
Plus they rake in the money like manna from heaven baby!

It makes me miss DU2 when such comments would be quickly removed as a group attack against other members of this community.
Wow.
I hope your day gets better.

(16,974 posts)some are more equal than others here on DU. Able to get away with posts like that calling out DU members with no repercussion. Anyone who supports the RKBA has to walk very carefully as a post will be alerted on in a heartbeat hoping to get a hide.
I do not support these people going down to the border.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)rudeness is fine as my alert was dismissed.
Someone else already alerted on this post before you alerted on it, and only the first alert was sent to a Jury. A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of the post on Sat Jul 5, 2014, 12:20 PM, and voted 1-6 to keep IT. Please note that even though your alert was not sent to a Jury, it has been forwarded to the Administrators who review all alerts.
I am just glad I am above that. I just do not understand sometimes.

Right-wing idiots with guns and a fear of foreigners and the federal government playing soldier in order to look and feel important. All of these NRA-directed imbeciles should have their precious guns taken away and be locked up for being a public nuisance.

It is easy for a gun-toting teabagger to terrorize ordinary people but their illusions of power are going to be shattered when they will face the cartels.

(50,528 posts)When one of these teabagger assholes kills a Mexican citizen, it will cause Andrew Tahmooressi to be immediately taken to court and issued the maximum sentence they have for gun running. The Mexicans are already pissed at us over the Edgar Tamayo execution.
That's the bad. The good is, the American people will finally realize the Founding Fathers did NOT intend for private citizens to start a war with a foreign country when they wrote the Second Amendment, and some of the excesses of the teabagger movement will be legislatively reeled in - starting with a ban on assault rifles they can't get their rifles around.
Precisely...

(9,893 posts)has tried to rally these "militia" troops for border duty before.
It's not like these guys are retired special forces, you know.
Usually, only a few show up and not all are armed.
They stand around in the heat, get in everyone's way, then go home, with no casualties more severe than a few scratches from the local flora and maybe a hang-over.
This is the most stupid-ass thing in the world, but I doubt that anyone is in even mild danger.
At least I hope.

(53,661 posts)This is actually what I always thought should happen with extremists of any type.
Put them together in close confines (desert is confining) and let them 'have at it.'
Leave the rest of humanity out their war games. Let them play Walker Texas Ranger and see who goes home later.
Unfortunately, it's unlikely their aim will be good and some innocent will get killed. So I've always nixed that.

(15,220 posts)If the militias want it to be handled professionally, then they need to leave it to the professionals.
These border town county sheriff departments are all understaffed and over-worked, and their time and attention does not need to be wasted by having to baby sit people who will just get in their way.

Yeah OK- a bunch of crazy militiamen are gonna stand in the middle of the desert, IN SUMMER, to call in reports of illegals?
How long do you think they'll last, sitting in the heat, before being rescued or dying of heat exhaustion? 3 hours? 5?

(28,243 posts)Under "Commander" Chip Davis? Let's just say I'm dubious.
I just hope a few gutsy journalists get to ask these militia members what they do for a living, what sorts of jobs allow them to go wandering into the wilds of south Texas with guns, ammo and potential human targets for days on end. Those kinds of details were missing from that ugly Utah incident.

(1,254 posts)for the vicious drug cartels. The cartels are not afraid of the police, the Mexican army, the border police and law enforcement, period. They have recently taken to execute/murder law enforcement in this country and they are not going to let these people hinder the cartels drug flow.
