Suspects confess to killing Palestinian teen

Source: AP-EXCITE

By IAN DEITCH

JERUSALEM (AP) — Three Israeli suspects in the vigilante-style killing of a Palestinian teenager who was abducted and burned to death last week confessed to the crime on Monday and were re-enacting the incident for authorities, an official said, as the country's leaders raced to contain a public uproar over the slaying.

The confessions came as tensions continued to rise along Israel's volatile front with the Gaza Strip. Israeli airstrikes, launched in response to persistent rocket fire, killed at least eight Palestinian militants. The Hamas militant group vowed revenge, saying "the enemy will pay a tremendous price."

The region has been on edge for weeks since three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and killed in the West Bank. Last week, hours after the Israeli teens were buried, 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir was abducted from outside his home in east Jerusalem, and his charred remains were found shortly afterwards in a Jerusalem forest. His death triggered days of violent protests in Arab areas of Jerusalem and northern Israel.

The Jewish suspects have not been identified, and they remained in custody Monday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation.

1. The laughable demands that Palestine "investigate", as Israel did, and arrest those responsible

for the 3 Israeli teen deaths seems to forget Palestine is an occupied state, their domestic police force and homicide investigation unit is a tad dysfunctional.

On the other hand Israel is doing the right thing in these arrests, so we can all ignore the recent bombing and killing razing of houses in the Gaza Strip and pretend it never happened now.

5. Hamas is part of the PNA and has celebrated the murders.

The PNA has their own police force in the West Bank and is capable of investigating the crime. The PNA knows exactly who and where the murderers are. Gaza is not occupied. Does Hamas ever investigate who is firing rockets into Israel?

7. A lot of Israelis celebrated the revenge death, picking out a few to paint the many is a poor start.

So the culprits are known, so why do the Israelis not do the arrest? I call BS.

A lot of Americans did not celebrate the release of the last POW left in the world, should all Americans and America itself be painted the same way, because of the way a few celebrate, or not? That is very shallow.

It was the official Hamas position. The same Hamas which is part of the unity government. Hamas and the PNA know the murders and there whereabouts. I did not say the Israelis did.

I could never see myself doing something so barbaric and awful to another living being. Especially in the name of religion. I just don't understand why these things still happen and why more people aren't evolving past such medieval methods.
