Lawyers representing Dinesh DSouzas newest film, America, have fired off a letter to Google demanding that the search engine correct problems that they say are hampering the ability of consumers to figure out where the movie is playing. ... The letter claims that Google has been confusing America with 2016: Obamas America, which was DSouzas first movie and has been out of theaters for two years, while Lionsgate released America on July 2 and it is currently playing in about 1,100 theaters nationwide.
Google, according to the letter, has been "misdirecting many users who mistakenly believed the film was not playing in theaters. We understand this was brought to your attention for correction five days ago, yet the problem persists." ... The letter, obtained exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, was sent Monday to Google chief legal officer David Drummond and comes from AmericaFilm LLC.
It demands that Google disclose "whether human or automated error was the source" of the alleged mistakes and asks "what measures have been taken to fix the problem." ... The letter also asks Google to supply "statistics on searches from the time the misdirection began until resolved so that we might ascertain the number of users who could not find the film as a result of this mix-up."
As of Monday night, a Google search of "America movie" yielded a strip of film posters that included two Captain America movies and several other superhero movies. Theres also an image of the poster for America, yet it is labeled 2016: Obamas America, a surprise hit in 2012. Clicking the image takes users to a plethora of information about 2016 but very little about America.

Gee. Apparently clicks on Dinesh D'Souza are going to places not of Dinesh D'Souza's liking. It's sort of like the way that clicks on Santorum go to places not of Rick Santorum's liking. I'm sure that Dinesh D'Souza wants the clicks to go to the right places.
I wonder if there's anything that can be done about this?
ETA: Yes, I'm talking about this Dinesh D'Souza.

What does he expect with such a generic title? I think he's being too impatient...

over the five-day July 4 holiday weekend. That's well under the stunning $6.5 million debut of the first film, which came out in late August of 2012 and went on to become a hit, running up $33 million...the second most a political documentary has ever made, behind only Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11, which took in $119 million in 2004.

Excuse me, but that is chump change, even as nationally-released documentaries go. He's hurting for money if he can't afford to buy advertising, which might explain his book's sudden and "inexplicable" departure from Costco.
And is he REALLY a felon? Yes, indeed, the charge that Dinesh D'Souza has pled guilty to is a felony, indeed!

TRANSLATION: "Our systems got confused because YOU confused them! Not only does your new movie include the same word as your last one, but it's a word so generic that dozen's, if not hundreds, of movie titles ALONE use it.
Furthermore, you clearly do not understand how the Internet search engines work. There are things that have to happen known as "indexing" and "spidering" -- it can take weeks, if not months, for newly created Web sites and pages to show up in ANY search engine!
"If you'd wanted instant online exposure, your marketing budget should have included the purchase of online advertising. But between your poor book sales and increasing legal bills, we wouldn't be surprised if you DIDN'T have a marketing budget!"
