Pastor pleads guilty to brutal treatment of 13-year-old

CORONA, Calif.-- A Southern California pastor and two followers have pleaded guilty to harming a 13-year-old boy who prosecutors say was pinched with pliers, struck with a shovel, forced to dig a mock grave and threatened with death.

Riverside County prosecutors say Lonny Remmers and his followers entered pleas Monday to inflicting corporal injury on a child. Remmers also pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and the others pleaded to making criminal threats.

Prosecutors said they agreed to the deal because of the state of the evidence and because the boy and his family didn't want to go through a trial.

Nicholas Craig and Darryll Jeter Jr. were sentenced to a year in home confinement.

Remmers could get up to two years in prison. He's also been charged with wire fraud and conspiracy in a separate federal case.

What, no prison? I bet the pastor will be confined to his home as well.

6. That will drive the idea of inappropriate behavior right out of that lad's head, won't it?

Thank you for this deeper look (I think!).

Clearly there are people who should NEVER have any power over anyone else, since they can't control themselves.

Well, I wish I hadn't read it actually but I did. Anyway, I'm not going to defend this mean bunch of whackos, but the story does give a motive (not that it justifies)

In March 2012, the boy’s mother had brought her son to Remmers to be disciplined after her son had sexually assaulted his 7-year-old sister, according to court testimony and records
