'What exactly are they trying to hide?' Obama says of Russia, Ukrainian rebels

Source: CNN

Hrabove, Ukraine (CNN) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. President Barack Obama lashed out Monday at Russia over conditions at the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, saying Russian-backed rebels at the site continue to impede efforts to recover bodies and investigate exactly what happened.

Poroshenko, speaking to CNN's Christiane Amanpour, pleaded for international solidarity against the rebels fighting the government in Kiev.

"I don't see any differences" between 9/11, the Lockerbie bombing and the attack on Flight 17, Poroshenko said.

Such terrorism is a danger to the "whole world" and to "global security," he said.

Police chief- Lockerbie evidence was faked

A FORMER Scottish police chief has given lawyers a signed statement claiming that key evidence in the Lockerbie bombing trial was fabricated.

The retired officer - of assistant chief constable rank or higher - has testified that the CIA planted the tiny fragment of circuit board crucial in convicting a Libyan for the 1989 mass murder of 270 people.

On the other hand, they are also paranoid and sharply ethnocentric. "Trying to hide something" and "outrageously paranoid" have the same behavior in this context.

I mean, when one of their leaders heads a commission to outline their Donbas history textbook to make the Donbas the star of historically Slavic civilization, showing that the Ukrainians have never been "true" East Slavs based on skull shapes and the like and "Kievan Rus'" was really "Donbas Rus'", you know you have serious problems. It's a massive conspiracy to keep the East Slavs down, after all. Everything. From the Huns to NATO. It's all about keeping the East Slavs in submission. They're the Ones.

They're fighting the West, NATO, Europe, and the Ukrainians--decadent liberal pro-homosexual Jewish fascists all of them. So they arrested a Swedish senior citizen today on suspicions of being a spy. Because he's a citizen of the Kingdom of Sweden (their terms, not mine--shades of Karl the whatever and wars with Peter the Great). And because reports were of Swedish snipers brought in by NATO. Yeah, we need us some Swedish snipers born in 1950. Sweden cooperates with but isn't part of NATO.

They see anti-Communist anti-Russian fascists, gays, Jews, Americans, NATO members everywhere. They're holding something like 400 hostages in their little bit of territory, mayors and assistants, reporters, businessmen. A fair number of Nigerian students (they're black and stand out), and a couple of days ago arrested a white Nigerian for spying (there are such, but not many--it was a British colony, after all, and not all Brits and their genes for light skin went home).

Rascists.

In other places, I've read that the Russian propaganda machine, which now includes virtually all broadcast media, is completely paranois. It is supposedly filled with stories of encroaching fascism and actions by NATO to destroy Russia.

If Putin and the separatists do not get their way, Putin and separatist leaders will have a hard time cooling off the populace. Let's just hope that the leaders don't decide that they must attack NATO or some other western country (like Finland) in order to stay on top of the raging horde that they themselves whipped up.

Jul 2014

I don't support US policy toward Ukraine. It appears that Yanukovich was toppled in a fascist putsch.

I still want to know who hired the black-hooded snipers that caused death and chaos in Kiev, leading up to the departure of Yanukovich. I'm deeply disappointed in John Kerry and the government of the US for their unquestioning support of the neo-fascists in Kiev.

I don't believe a word said by the Kiev regime. Not that I think RT is a better source.

LOTS of people are hiding what is going on in Ukraine. Including Putin AND Obama AND CNN et al. What are they all afraid of?

What is the truth here? I sure don't know. I'm not trusting what I'm hearing from pretty much anyone.

It's a lousy situation all around, and I'm watching it all in dismay. The people of Ukraine seem caught between an ugly rock and a nasty hard place. I feel for them.

The anti-Putin talk reminds me of the fury to "Get Saddam! Get Saddam!" In the run-up to Iraq War I and Iraq War II, there was a frenzy of talk about getting Saddam.

It's scary and depressing to see this "Get Putin" frenzy. The last thing our planet needs is a new war, hot or cold, between the U.S. and Russia.

We should be working together to try to preserve our planet as livable for the human species and our fellow creatures. Humanity has no time or people or energy to waste on pointless wars.

Forcing people into the binary of Putin or Kiev is acting like GWBush, "you're with us or against us."

I am opposed to the regime in Kiev AND Putin.

AND I don't see any benefit at all to the US saber rattling against Putin. It is scary and dangerous.

I highly recommend this thread, started by JackRiddler. He eloquently explains (far better than I can) why he does not support US policy on Ukraine, and how he is simultaneously not a supporter of Putin.

P.S. Deflecting from what has happened and not wanting to hold those accountable for their actions of killing damn near 300 people on that flight is why people aren't buying what you are trying to sell.

This isn't about U.S. policy in Ukraine, but Russian policy.

This "separatist" movement in Southeastern Ukraine is lead and supplied by the Russians. They supplied the BuK system precisely to allow the the astroturf "separatists" precisely to allow them to counter Ukrainian air superiority, and that policy has lead directly to the deaths of almost 300 innocent people in a civilian airliner.

Whatever you think of U.S. policy, THAT lays right at Putin's feet. HE made the choice to make that technology available to those people.

Yeah, there are scary and dangerous people in the world and Putin is one of them. Welcome to reality.
