Neo-Nazi group banned in Germany's Bavaria state
Jul 23, 5:36 AM EDT

BERLIN (AP) -- Authorities in the German state of Bavaria say they have banned a neo-Nazi group that operated in the region.

The state interior ministry said it banned the Free Network South group on Wednesday and accused it of pursuing the "anti-constitutional endeavors" of an organization that was banned a decade ago, the Franconian Action Front.

Officials searched a property in the small town of Regnitzlosau in northern Bavaria where, the ministry said, an outfit called Final Resistance Mail Order supported the group's activities.

Along with other state governments, Bavaria is seeking a ban on Germany's biggest far-right party, the National Democratic Party. Germany's highest court is considering the case.

Over 30 years ago, a former SS soldier wanted to start up a neo-Nazi party in Germany. The Nazi Party is banned forever by law in Germany, so the guy needed a new name. He found his inspiration in a party in the USA that seemed to be to his liking. He named his party "Die Republikaner." This is not a joke. Look them up.

Look at america. The tea party has it's constituents. McCain/Palin got bunches of votes/ the far right gun suckers and their psychotic helpers are running amuck in this country, killing in mass quantities and threatening revolution. They are everywhere and growing in numbers. Hard economic times plus hate radio and fox news pundits have ginned up the RW base to the point where a tea party Hitler could have millions cheer him until the bombs start dropping on their cities and the dead start piling up. This scenario is not so far fetched.

But I cannot understand the appeal of these far right parties, in Europe. Considering they got an up close and personal experience of Fascism during WWII.

In the US, you just don't see it, but over there many are extreme in those towns. Unfortunately, some turn to far-right parties for a solution.

When I studied the EU I was under the impression it had a real legitimacy problem. Most of the people in EU institutions with power are unelected bureaucrats which has caused a lot of anger which the far right has been able to successfully tap into.

This is going to continue unless there is major reform in the EU that would make it more democratic.

The EU puts inexperienced ("unelected" goes without saying) bureaucrats in positions to take arbitrary decisions involving subjects about which they know nothing. Their decisions are stupid, often reached on the basis of faulty information (or none at all,) and the bureaucrats have nothing to fear by being horribly wrong, as they can never be fired.
