Meghan McCain Turns Down Co-Hosting Gig On ABC's 'The View'

Last edited Sat Jul 26, 2014, 01:45 PM - Edit history (2)

Source: Radar Online

After losing all their co-hosts except for Whoopi Goldberg, and only Rosie O’Donnell signing on to come back to The View, ABC Networks have lost another hopeful in Meghan McCain when she turned down the gig. “Network execs really wanted her. She was going to be their ‘new’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck because of her Republican connections, but with a much younger skewing reach and more open stances on social issues,” a TV insider told Radar.

“But ultimately Meghan turned it down. She doesn’t mind doing guest appearances on the show, but it’s not something she wanted to do full time. She enjoys her current job and wants to see where it goes.” Network execs were excited about the prospect of landing Senator John McCain‘s 29-year-old daughter.

“Meghan has enough on her plate right now,” the insider added. “Joining The View wouldn’t allow her to work on the things she’s really passionate about, so although it seemed like a good opportunity, it just wasn’t for her.” The daytime talk show lost three of their co-hosts this year when Barbara Walters retired, Sherri Shepherd left after seven years to move on with other endeavors, and Jenny McCarthy split after just one season.

I'm afraid Meghan McCain is a little too intelligent for the job.

Has to be pretty good to turn down a media job like that.

I heard a horrible rumor that Sarah Palin was being considered. Was that a joke?

I never watch this show anyway, so really, could care less but I hate the idea that such an airhead would get any more media time than she already has.

On August 1st, 2013 Pivot TV aired the first episode of TakePart Live a live show hosted by Cara Santa Maria and Jacob Soboroff that covers news, social media, current events and is a component to the website.

In January 2014, popular comedian personality Tehran Von Ghasri was added to the permanent live show roster as host adding color commentary, academic and worldly perspective. In April 2014 Cara Santa Maria was replaced on the show by Meghan McCain and the show moved to a new set.

TakePart Live is also streamed live on the website www.takepart.com/live.

Seems like the kind of thing you'd leave in an instant if offered a network gig.

24. Palin May Want the Job

As far as I know ABC did not offer her a job. She was either asked by a reporter if she would be interested in the job, or she mentioned it to a reporter. Either way Palin stated that she would be interested in the job if it were offered. Maybe that was her way of asking to be hired without having to ask the actual question.

She is so stupid, I think it'd be hilarious. Unintentional comedy is the best kind of comedy.

As a vice-presidential candidate so close to actually being elected, her stupidity was terrifying. On a morning talk show? Comedy goldmine.

Problem 1: the studio's in New York City, not Alaska. She might wander down to the Lower 48 to do one of those "100 grand and bendy straws" speaking gigs she loves so dearly, but she won't want to leave the wonder that is Wasilla for a whole television season.

Problem 2: that show starts at 10 am, meaning she'll need to be at work at 6 for grooming, dressing, writing today's Koch Brothers talking points on her hand... Sarah seems like the kinda gal who really loves her beauty sleep.

Problem 3, and the most crucial: The View wouldn't revolve around Sarah Palin.

I can't think of anything less edifying, or more annoying, than listening to some right-wing virago spew her toxic view. All in the name of a 'balanced' View? Puh-leez!

I think they want drama more than a balance. It was reported that they let Jenny McCarthy go because she did not bring enough drama.

I think they are trying her out. That voice haunts me...... Sarah Paulson was only too kind in her portrayal of Nicole in "Game Change" - in that movie, Sarah was a measured and cool operator and speaker.
