Woman sentenced for threatening to kill Obama

Source: AP

HOUSTON (AP) — Federal authorities say a Houston woman has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison for mailing a letter that threatened the life of President Barack Obama.

Fifty-six-year-old Teddy Bear Paradise was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Houston. Paradise, formerly known as Denise O'Neal, pleaded guilty in August to threatening the life of the president.

Prosecutors say she admitted to sending the letter addressed to Obama telling him she was traveling to Washington, D.C. to kill him. They say she later told two Secret Service agents of her intention and that if she couldn't commit the act herself, she would hire someone else to do it.

She will remain in custody until it's determined at which U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility she will be incarcerated.

Say hello to TENS OF MILLIONS of mainstream Americans

she has the courage to write the letter and say it out loud, while most of them want to do that they are gutless

i call it courage in that one sense that at least she is willing to put her money where her stupid, racist mouth is

In 2008, Paradise was in Hawaii when she mailed a letter that threatened to kill then-President George W. Bush. She pleaded guilty in that case.

In January 2009, federal authorities in North Carolina alleged that she threatened to kill her probation officer. Paradise later pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 37 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to federal court documents.

It was not clear how Paradise came to California, but she was arrested in Santa Cruz in April 2012 for an outstanding federal warrant.

Paradise also was convicted in federal court in San Jose in 2005 for mailing threatening letters.

He ran into an old friend that he had known since grade school, and had later worked with in a local factory.

A real nice guy, and my brother spent about 30 minutes catching up with this fellow, talking kids, family, work. A really pleasant conversation.

As they were wrapping things up and getting ready to go their separate ways, the guy put his arm around my brother's shoulder and said "What kinds of guns do you own?"

My brother: I don't own a gun.

The guy: You need to get you one. It's all going to go down real soon.

My brother: What's going to go down?

The guy: It's going to go down real soon. Obama has destroyed our country and people aren't going to put up with it. You need to have a gun to be ready for it. I'd shoot him myself if I thought I could get close enough.

My brother: Well, it's been nice seeing you. I've got to go.

I don't think she is politically motivated as she threatened GW as well. She's disturbed and possibly dangerous. She should be institutionalized. I think jail is the wrong institution and that they didn't sentence her for nearly long enough.
