'Dangerous Situation' Reported At Florida State University

Source: Huffingtonpost

Florida State University officials issued an emergency alert on Wednesday night about a "dangerous situation" unfolding on campus.

On the FSU website, students and staff were urged to "seek shelter immediately, away from doors and windows."

HuffPost reached out to the Florida State University Police Department for more information, and was told that a statement would be issued soon. However, police reportedly told the Los Angeles Times that there was a gunman on the Tallahassee campus and the situation was unfolding.

At least two people were injured by gunshots on Florida State University's campus in Tallahassee, officials with Tallahassee Memorial Health Care confirmed to ABC News.

The patients' conditions are not known, and it's unclear whether those injured are students.

In my years at school, I never once had to cope with this. Some things about the good old days were, indeed, good.

And of course, this is Florida, and since Rock Scott won, the rights of people to sell ak-47's at fleas markets will not be interefered with.

From HuffPo, updated:

FSU student Toni Haywood was on the second floor of the Strozier Library around 12:30 a.m. when she heard gunshots, ABC News reported. Minutes later, the police announced via intercom that there was a gunman in the library, Haywood told the network via text.

Mary Coburn, vice president of student affairs, told the student newspaper FSU News that campus police had shot and killed the gunman. Tallahassee police officers confirmed the gunman's death as well, AP reported.

According to Ian Clark, a nursing supervisor at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care, two gunshot victims were being treated at the hospital. Details about the victims, including their current conditions, have not been released.

A third person was also wounded, Tallahassee Police spokesman Dave Northway told the AP, but no other information about that victim was released.
