By Jonathan Kaminsky

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The campaign manager of a Democrat who challenged U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana tipped off a blogger that the Republican lawmaker had spoken to a white supremacist group in 2002.

However, Democrat Gilda Reed did not expose the meeting during the 2008 special election for the House seat because she believed it would not sway the district’s conservative electorate.

“I felt strongly that it would not have walked,” Reed told Reuters on Wednesday. "I was running in a district with a lot of bigots."

She lost to Scalise by more than 50 points.

Reed's son and 2008 campaign manager, Robert Reed, alerted left-leaning blogger, Lamar White Jr., who broke the story that has caused turmoil for Scalise, the No. 3 Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives................

Such a story could be a great GOTV motivator for the bigots in that district, which she said there were a lot of.

The question is, will this revelation make the constituents think about their attitudes, or will they double down and be proud of their racist proclivities?

and they would "out" them if Scalise was ousted, I'm betting half the bloggers in the country are digging through records. 2015 could be more of a nightmare for the GOP than the citizens they wish to "govern" (aka "impoverish&quot .

This issue needs to be brought front and center and hold his feet need to held to the proverbial fire, everyday.
Since the DO NOTHING LEADER or Speakless Orange Drunk, "has the full faith and confidence" its time for his feet to be held to the proverbial fire, just imagine if it was a democrat, Pelosi and crew would have none of it and ask for the individual to head out the door and resign, and the republicans would still be DOING NOTHING but harping for political gain.
And these leaders in the right wing republican party and there propaganda information system like to remind everyone that the democrats supported slavery during the Civil War----really, why then did the south want to keep it?

she was never going to win.

Scalise did what all candidates do in this and several other backward districts still in a Confederate time warp...nudge, nudge, wink, wink, I hate black folk as much as you.

And, being Catholic, more electable to higher positions, get it?

"Exposing" Scalise? WTF difference would it have made, everyone already knew!

Same as today, exposing racists in any party, what difference does it make? The media will cover it up, keep the rigged game close at least, massive ad money depends on the appearance of a contested prize.

Resign from his leadership post? How about resign from politics, a No Racists Allowed sign is still on the front yard of the WH, isn't it?

I also visited the rural areas NE and North of Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Conservatives, teabaggers and repulikkkans pander to these type groups. They give them the "guns, god, gays and n.....s and Mexicans" hate speech for votes. So, if some one were to investigate, I'm would not be surprised that most of the conservanazi republikkkans in Louisiana and Mississippi have visited those groups for votes.

Conservative Citizens Councils, EURO, kkklucker klubs, and wannabe militia warriors like 'oath' Keepers and such.

Pelosi spokesman: Scalise revelations ‘deeply troubling’

By Ed O'Keefe December 30, 2014

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) (AP/J. Scott Applewhite)

A spokesman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) calls House Majority Whip Steve Scalise's (R-La.) admission that he once spoke at a White nationalists convention "deeply troubling," but she isn't calling on him to relinquish his leadership position.

Scalise confirmed through an aide Monday that he once appeared at a convention of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization, or EURO. But the aide said the congressman didn’t know at the time about the group’s affiliation with racists and neo-Nazi activists.

In a statement, Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill called Scalise's admission "deeply troubling for a top Republican leader in the House."

"However, actions speak louder than whatever Steve Scalise said to that group in 2002," he added. "Just this year, House Republicans have refused to restore the Voting Rights Act or pass comprehensive immigration reform and leading Republican members are now actively supporting in the federal courts efforts by another known extremist group, the American Center for Law and Justice, which is seeking to overturn the President’s immigration executive actions. Speaker Boehner’s silence on this matter is yet another example of his consistent failure to stand up to the most extreme elements of his party."

To take the heat off of Scalise.
Never mind the details, a Democrat and a 'left leaning' blogger broke the story.....

This is about offuscating the fact that the rethug party is crawling with racists and bigots by making this a Democratic 'attack.'

Media assholes.
