Cuba 'frees political prisoners on US list'

Source: BBC

The Cuban government has released some of the 53 political prisoners on a US list, the state department has said.

Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Washington hoped to see all those on the list released soon but did not specify who was now free.
...
"They have already released some prisoners... Obviously we would like to see this completed in the near future," Ms Psaki said.

"This list is not to be seen as the end of our discussion on human rights with the government of Cuba."

5. People in the employ of the declared enemy of Cuba aren't "dissidents". They're traitors.

The US's declared goal is to change the system of gov't in Cuba.
If one decides to work for foreign enemy entities declaring such a purpose, then one isn't a patriot of Cuba.
It makes them a traitor.

The US gov't supplied the list of their employees to be released.
What about that is so hard to understand?

do you agree that there are Cuban dissidents that are not associated with a foreign government but simply want political reform?

They are ignored by the US media and professional Miamicubano exile groups - because to admit that would be to admit that there is real and wide ranging domestic political discourse and electoral activity in Cuba.
Something that the anti Cuba crowd here does too.

US officials say Cuba has completed the release of 53 political prisoners agreed as part of last month's historic deal between the two countries.

The US said it had verified the release of the 53, which it welcomed as a "very positive development".

However, the US said the release did "not resolve the larger human rights problems on the island".
