Massive search for woman suspected in Paris hostage-taking

Source: CNN

A new, massive manhunt was launched Friday for the only surviving suspect from the two hostage situations in France, who may have escaped, police union spokesman Pascal Disant said.

That suspect is Hayat Boumeddiene, a 26-year-old woman who allegedly was the accomplice of Amedy Coulibaly, 32, in the standoff at a kosher grocery store in eastern Paris.
...
Boumeddiene may have eluded capture during the confusion as the freed hostages were running away, Disant said.

• Hayat Boumeddiene, the 26-year-old woman wanted in Thursday's fatal shooting of a policewoman outside Paris, escaped Friday from the grocery store in the confusion as hostages ran away, Alliance Police Union spokesman Pascal Disand said. She'd been in the market with Coulibaly, the other suspect in Thursday's deadly incident. The FBI also said that French police were trying to find Boumeddiene.

This, rather like her, seems to have slipped through the cracks. It now seems she was inside the kosher supermarket, and not just an associate of the gunman. If they let her go, that's incompetent. A basic part of a hostage situation is to hang on to everyone who comes out, and sort out who they are. They knew about her before the end of the siege.

as incompetent, but truly unfortunate. I hope she's caught soon. All of these victims deserve at least one of these murderers put on trial.

Might they be able to identify her as one who ran out in the confusion?

Hayat Boumeddiene, 26, described by police as “armed and dangerous”, is wanted on suspicion of being the accomplice of Amedy Coulibaly in the brutal shooting of a young trainee policewoman in Montrouge on Thursday.

Quoting French police sources, French media have reported there is currently no firm evidence that she was present at or involved in Coulibaly’s hostage-taking at a Jewish supermarket in northern Paris on Friday.

There are reports in Le Monde and other parts of the French media that Hayat Boumeddiene – currently labelled France’s most-wanted woman for her suspected involvement in the atrocities committed by her partner, Amedy Coulibaly – could have fled the country before this week’s attacks took place.

Le Monde reports that Boumeddiene is suspected to have flown to Istanbul on 2 January, from where she reportedly travelled to Syria.

Hayat Boumeddiene, la compagne d'Amedy Coulibaly, le preneur d'otages de la porte de Vincennes, s'est envolée pour Istanbul le 2 janvier, d'où elle aurait rejoint la Syrie le 8, selon nos informations.
