Grocery hostage-taker’s girlfriend left France

Source: France 24

The French police’s search for accomplices in this week’s deadly attacks in Paris turned international when news broke that the girlfriend of the man who took several people hostage at a grocery had left France for Syria last week.

Amédy Coulibaly, 32, died during a police siege on Friday after taking several people hostage at the Hyper Cacher supermarket near the Porte de Vincennes in eastern Paris.

But police are still searching for his girlfriend, Hayat Boumeddiene, 26, who was identified as his suspected accomplice in the killing of a young female officer in southern Paris on Thursday. However, the police may have been mistaken about Boumeddiene’s direct involvement in the shooting as news broke Saturday that she had left France for Turkey on January 2. Investigations are underway to check if she might have crossed the border into Syria on January 8.

Boumeddiene entered Turkey Jan 2, may be in Syria: Turkish source

Ankara (AFP) - Hayat Boumeddiene, the wanted partner of one of the gunmen shot dead by police after three days of high drama in France, arrived in Turkey before the killings and may now be in Syria, a Turkish security source told AFP Saturday.

"She entered Turkey on January 2," the source said, adding that Boumeddiene had a return ticket from Madrid to Istanbul.

The source said she was believed to have moved on to the southeastern Turkish city of Sanliurfa and then to Syria but there was "no concrete data" to prove this.

The source said Turkey did not arrest her because of a lack of timely intelligence from France. "We do not have the luxury to prevent everyone entering without intelligence sharing," said the source, who asked not to be named. "If the intelligence sharing had been timely then she could have been extradited."

These kind of attacks are planned for a long time and always have someone involved indirectly, it is HIGHLY likely she was one of those indirectly involved. There is always a go between, someone not specifically on the terrorist radar that helps co-ordinate and relay news and/or plans and funding. All one needs to do is look at timeline, travel agenda, and any possible banking/monied activity to get to the truth.
