Gunman tried to justify market raid to hostages, recording apparently shows

Source: CNN

Amedy Coulibaly apparently tried to justify himself to his hostages in a deadly standoff at a kosher market in eastern Paris -- and perhaps unbeknownst to him, a radio station was listening, a recording purportedly reveals.

Do not know if this was posted earlier.

I found the audio compelling.

Also, peace and love to all, and a big hug to all who are saddened in these troubled times.

"But I am telling you, it's almost over. Militants are going to come. There are going to be more and more. They (France) need to stop. They need to stop attacking ISIS," the man says, referring to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the Sunni Muslim extremist group and al Qaeda offshoot that is waging a brutal war for what it says is its Islamic caliphate in the Middle East.

"They need to stop asking our women to remove the hijab," the man continues. A French law banning the burqa, a full-body covering that includes a mesh over the face, and the niqab, a full-face veil with an opening for the eyes, went into effect in April 2011.

Glad you're here. These ARE troubled times, aren't they! We need one another. Share a hug with someone who looks like they need one. You'd probably find more takers than you were expecting.

"You pay taxes, so that means you agree" with France's actions in Mali and the Middle East, the apparent gunman says in the recording.

"But we have to pay," another voice says.

The response from the apparent gunman appeared incredulous: "What? We don't have to. I don't pay my taxes!"

"When I pay my taxes, it's for the highways, schools," an apparent hostage says. "We pay our taxes but we don't harm anybody," a person also says.

I've always wondered whether us as citizens deserve some guilt for the actions our governments do on our behalf, not because we are forced to pay our taxes, but because our governments are elected by us the people, and when these governments launch invasions of countries like Iraq, etc, do we the people hold any responsibility at all for their actions.

Obviously none of us deserve violence against us as a result of our governments stupid actions and terrorists are never ever right to commit such violence against any of us, but surely we need to wake up and realised that our governments actions that result in thousands of deaths around the world are only able to be done because we the people keep electing the wrong bloody governments.

but I'm tired of the We're All Guilty meme when some lunatic does something I totally disagree with and vote against the people who do such idiocy. What do you expect me to do, immolate myself in front of Congress?

When I had money I donated, when I was younger and physically capable, I volunteered. I am guilty of nothing in connection with this stuff
