You seldom if ever hear “that guy couldn’t possibly know a thing about law enforcement – he’s a police officer”, or “she can’t be trusted talking about fire safety – she’s a firefighter.”

1. I have been told right here on DU by several long-term members

who will go unnamed that, because I am a veterinarian, I could not possibly know anything about animal health and/or nutrition.

Yep. Four years of a BS in Microbiology followed by 4 years of veterinary school, and now 30 years in practice, has completely emptied my head.

2. Some people just hate teachers. I remember a long time ago the

publisher of my hometown newspaper said teachers were "overpaid babysitters". He also said the price of farmland was "gradually skyrocketing".

3. they're just a convenient hate radio target

they get bashed because it is an easy way for the psychopaths to bring some more morons to the polls,and no one will fight back. If the NEA and AFT wold organize a nationwide teachers strike, they would regain some footing in the debate. OTOH, the average voter in Kansas believes that global warming is a hoax being put on by Al Gore, that Obama was born in Africa, and that cutting taxes for billionaires is the way out of the depression. People that stupid shouldn't be allowed to vote
