Cop Writes Man a Ticket for Broken Windshield as He’s Getting it Fixed

Shop owner David Sprague and his crew were astonished by the actions of this overzealous officer and said that there was no reason to pull Berlin over in the first place.

“We were just standing here in our door and were ready for his appointment and all of the sudden we see a cop out there writing the guy a ticket, We were pretty astounded to think that was what happened,” Sprague said.

“He had plenty of visibility on the driver side,” he added.

While the Sheriff’s Department has refused to comment on the issue, the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado pointed out that this is an illustration of how police are more concerned with enforcing codes and writing tickets than actually protecting people.

“The more and more police officers see their role as ticketing as opposed to protecting public safety, that has a tendency to erode the public trust,” Denise Maes of the ACLU said.

....abusing the entire citation/violation system in order to keep self-funding courts, and their fellow shakedown artists.

Especially since their true owners/employers -- the 1%ers -- aren't paying into the system...

was in the habit of sending city cops up on the freeway to ticket drivers exceeding the speed limit by a few MPH. Then the state ruled that I-5 was NOT inside their city limits and the city police (both of them) had no right to give out tickets there. So the city put a stop light just across the freeway, called it a city improvement, and annexed the intersection on the other side putting a small stretch of I-5 within their city limits. After all, that short piece of freeway was one of the main income source for the city which has barely 1,000 residents. Just to put it in perspective, after 5:00 PM when you call the police you get their answering machine telling you to call back in the morning. Actual policing there is handled by the Sheriff's department. The only function of the "police" is writing tickets.

Then as we (me, wife, two daughters) were about to leave at the other end of town, he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for a hairline crack in the windshield. We had Colorado tags, so it was like $100 on the spot. Whatever the cost was.
Just looked like legal thievery to me.
