Stone Mountain monument is progress but not perfect

The idea to place a monument at the top of Stone Mountain in response to the call for boycotts against Confederate symbols on state property is progress in Georgia ... This move does not propel Georgia to the front of the line but at least keeps us ahead of Mississippi ... I am optimistic that Georgia will catch up with the rest of the country ... I hope that the purpose for leaving the Confederate flags on the poles is to include quotes from the flags’ designers about the flag being made to display “white supremacy” so we can finally bust this “heritage not hate” myth. Hopefully it will also include quotes from the Georgia legislators as they bemoaned black school children attending school with white school children when they changed the 1956 Georgia flag ...
