President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday wouldn't allow reporters to see piles of documents displayed at his press conference, which he and lawyers said detailed his plans to disentangle himself from his business.

“These papers are just some of the many documents I’ve signed turning over complete and total control to my sons,” Trump said during his press conference, standing next to a table stacked with manila folders.

“They are not going to discuss [the business] with me,” Trump said of his sons. “Again, I don't have to do this. They're not going to discuss it with me.”

CNN reported that the press was not allowed to take a closer look at the documents. The Associated Press similarly reported that Trump staffers blocked journalists from looking at the folders.
Trump announced Wednesday that he is handing control of his business empire to his two adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and placing his assets into a trust. The press conference was the first Trump has held since the election and included long-awaited details of how the president-elect plans to avoid conflicts of interest when sworn into office.

Stacks of paper props are meaningless and do not reveal anything close to transparency.

..."Here in these folders are some of the many documents I've signed turning over complete and total control to my sons...

BUT YOU CAN'T LOOK AT THEM. Trust me.

First, tRump's SONS ARE STUPID. They'd both starve to death if they had to rely on their own intelligence and wherewithal to survive. And you're turning your vast business empire over to them? Again

Second, no mention about Ivanka, favored offspring, and notably the most intelligent of the troika? Nada, Ivanka?

notebooks? Those notebooks supposedly contained the conversations recorded on his taping system. I believe that is also when he told us, "I am not a crook."

Trump would be better off not reminding us of those times.

but it reminds me of what I read about Joe McCarthy and his lists of alleged commies. I don't think he'd want people to look at his lists, either.

We need a progressive version of Judicial Watch that files FOIA requests and enforces them with lawsuits.

It would be a simple, easy to comply with request clearly identifying the documents sought:

"All documents that were sitting in folders on the table next to President-Elect Trump at his press conference on November11, 2016, which he identified as 'some of the many documents I’ve signed turning over complete and total control to my sons.'"
