Trump Voters...is this what you envisioned?
A Jewish refugee and her three children were detained when they disembarked a cruise ship in Orlando Florida...they were detained and questioned for SIX AND A HALF HOURS! All four are US Citizens, and she has lived in America for TWENTY YEARS!
Is this what you voted for, the change you wanted? If not, speak up, join the resistence, and stop Trump from destroying our GREAT NATION.

(9,696 posts)What I care about is the people who didn't vote, or are not interested in politics. Those people can be reached and possibly engaged by what is happening.
drumptf voters are on their own. If they want to change their minds, fine, but there is no use trying to reason with them or appeal to their conscience. They will cling harder to their certainty as everything around them continues to crumble.

(8,045 posts)Keep in mind that there's also a strong current of anti-Semitism running through the Trump base.
I made the mistake of trying to engage some of these people on YouTube, and all I got was abuse for not admiring how Trump was "making America strong again" by lashing out at "the other." Domestically this means people of color and Jews and Moslems, in foreign affairs it means Moslems and, probably eventually, China.
The undertow of fear and ignorance is something fierce. So much so that they seem happy to embrace an authoritarian figure, despite all their blather during the last eight years about "tyranny" and "watering the tree of liberty" blah blah blah.
I'm becoming convinced this has less to do with economics ("the neglected and forgotten white male" and more to do with fear and bias and bigotry than ever before. Even if the economy crashes, as long as Trump gives them a target or targets to hate, they'll be fine with whatever he does, no matter how nauseating it might be to the rest of us.
I'm in a very pessimistic mood tonight. I always knew there was a very dark side to American politics, as reflected in our history. I'm just sad to see my worst fears confirmed in such stark ways.
