Trump's state visit to Britain put on hold (Guardian)

Donald Trump has told Theresa May in a phone call he does not want to go ahead with a state visit to Britain until the British public supports him coming.

The US president said he did not want to come if there were large-scale protests and his remarks in effect put the visit on hold for some time.

The call was made in recent weeks, according to a Downing Street adviser who was in the room. The statement surprised May, according to those present.

I have seen different reports. One reported that Theresa May said the visit is still on. And then previous to that, the Guardian reported that the visit was off until it is viewed favorably by the British public.

Which report is accurate?

because for some reason, he personifies the lowest, trashiest and most venal parts of the Rich Vulgar American. He migtht make a highly secretive trip to one of his damned golf courses, but if the British people learnt about it, there would be the biggest protests ever seen in Scotland.
Same thing with Paris or Berlin or Sydney or Quebec. He seems to have united the civilized world in a mood of utter loathing and contempt.
