Trump’s Mika tweets were gruesome — but the “resistance” needs to stop fainting every time he says something inflammatory

Trump's Twitter abuse of Mika Brzezinski was just daily outrage fodder — and as usual we all took the bait

CHAUNCEY DEVEGA

Why the shock and the awe?

Earlier on Thursday, in response to criticism from MSNBC personalities Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Donald Trump took to Twitter and offered up the following missive:

I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!

His comments received the expected and designed outcome. The online commentariat, members of the professional chattering class and others responded with anger at his mean-spirited, childish, sexist and misogynist comments about Mika Brzezinski.

Trump is as Trump does. His comments about Brzezinski are a reflection of who he actually is. They should not surprise anyone. Donald Trump has bragged about sexually assaulting women by grabbing their vaginas without permission. He insulted Hillary Clinton during the campaign by making allusions to her menstruation. He has talked publicly about finding his own daughter sexually attractive and he overtly views women primarily as sex objects.

The misogyny of Trump, the administration, and the Republican party is death to women and girls. Why dismiss it as something merely snowflakes faint over, when women stand up for themselves and push back?

If Chauncey wants to normalize Trump's sexism and degradation of women, fine. Doesn't mean DU is gonna follow his advice.

I get it. When the President says something that violates the norms of decent society, that dehumanizes millions of people, that would be unacceptable for a 7-year old to say let alone the POTUS, the natural instinct is to try to shut him down.

But what do if he won't be shut down? What if that 7-year old WANTS to make you angry? What if your anger only encourages him to do it more?

That's what Trump is doing. And the only answer is for the media to start ignoring it. That's the only way to stop Trump. Talk about Russia or healthcare. That's what he doesn't want you to talk about it. Because if the media did talk about those things, we'd quickly notice he actually has nothing to say.

and refer to her as an ugly hippo, and his entire fan base would not only not be bothered, they would love it.

NOTHING he says or does will put them off, they are deplorable.

While he is behaving as the 12 yr old the world now knows he is, we must be focused on the grandmothers being kept out of the country because he is also a world class religious bigot, as well.

This is about all the millions of people that have the opportunity to vote and get angry enough because they are put off, and vote 2018.

I have never been one to bother with trying to convince some one to be put off, when the President to be makes fun of an handicapped person. If a person is not angry about that without me telling them they need to be, I get it is a waste of time.

But yes, I want it loud and clear for all the people that have that vote and will be angry that the President behaves like this and indicative of how the Republican party see women and girls.

When the goal of that behavior is to generate outrage? Why give him what he wants? Will he stop? Will his brainwashed followers suddenly wake up and say "ohh I didn't realize he was a nasty fuck?"

We have known all along that IT is an immature, infantile, thuggish narcissistic sociopath and he will never change so do not give him what he wants...attention.
The Resistance has nothing to do with this. It is the media, some dems, etc. who are hyper-focused on this BS.

Women used resist when they were told to sit down, shut up, lower the voice, quit being a shill and getting the gavel. Women yelled resist while rights are taken away from them, when being a woman is considered a pre-existing condition. Women yelled resist when they hear sexual assault is merely locker room talk, demeaned and degraded in speech, when they are culled from a group of professionals reporters to be put on display for ogling.

Women and girls chanted resist in one of the biggest world wide marches ever, after Trump was elected.

I am sure they are interested to hear what is really important, from you.

Resisting is standing up and speaking out about all issues that are of concern with this new fake president and the GOP. It is about getting his tax returns, investigating Russian Interference in our elections, it is about possible collusion with the campaign, it is about climate change, it is about not funding scientific data and research, it is about affordable healthcare for all, etc. Men, women, young old, all cultures, nationalities resist. Keith Olbermann resists. People at town halls resist. People getting arrested at Die-Ins, people writing and calling their reps, people joining Indivisible and other Dem groups, etc. It is not about responding to juvinile, insulting tweets. That is his personality and he won't change. As Rachel said last night, "Stop listening to the noise coming out of the White House, watch what people are doing".
I have been resisting in most of these ways and will continue until I am too ill. Oh, I am also a proud feminist and was the first person in the 6th largest US city to RSVP for the Women's March here. That was my 2nd protest and this Sunday will be my 8th. Resist. Peace.

I don't care at all, not one bit, not a penny for Mika or Joe...

But every dreary, cruel, stupid, puerile thing dump says or does should be shouted from the roof tops. Eventually those silent naybobs that support him might hear and understand.

They probably will never understand the complexity of health care or diplomacy.
