Editorial: Climate threat to Tampa Bay area

Hillsborough County Commission chair Stacy White says he's comfortable addressing the threat from rising sea levels but doesn't want to discuss climate change. That's like planning a moon launch and ignoring gravity. It's time to get serious and for local officials in this low-lying, coastal region to play a significant role in a debate that involves the health, security, livelihoods, property and essential infrastructure for millions in the Tampa Bay area.

Rising sea levels are not the result of what we are doing TODAY...they are the result of what was done 20 YEARS AGO!!!

The worst effects that are already baked into the outcomes are going to continue to get worse as long as we continue 'business as usual' thinking and acting. The problems that we have are going to get exponentially worse and even then, if we do not stop polluting freely and without limitations the effects in the end will go into the realm of the fantastic, disaster movie type outcomes before long.

This situation is going to be covered in the press and by the government as a surprise...the only real surprise is that people keep voting for morons that clearly are unqualified to be dog catchers let alone Senators or Congressmen...

sinkholes, saltwater intrusion on the aquifer, hurricanes, now pythons, iguanas, and it is so hot and wet this summer I can only go outside for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. I doubt FL will habitable in 50 years.
