The combination of the way that President Trump stumbles from petty feud to announcing yet another appalling policy with all the grace of a drunken lumberjack combined the with numbing resignation induced by a ravenous 24/7 infotainment media machine that barely stops to tut-tut the President’s impropriety before hungrily seizing on Trump’s latest barbs has indeed exhausted our reserves of outrage and fed a growing sense of normalizing resignation among many.“


As bone weary, disgusted and disheartened as I have become in this never ending citizens’ WAR we canNOT become resigned or beaten down.

Beyond the ogre mentality and buffoon oafishness of the Cretin, is the hourly shredding of all that is decent and hopeful about America. He is wearing us down because he thrives in chaotic environments (before it was in his business life...now it is in all our lives). He creates chaos...he IS mentally ill. Even Jeb Bush said a few months ago when asked about the moron's fake presidency so far and he replied, "He is exhausting". Most rational citizens are experiencing signs of anxiety/depression. He is not healthy for our country and its citizens. Yates , Reich, Olbermann and others are trying to rally us like cheerleaders whose team is throwing in the towel. We must resist. If you need to take a well deserved break to rest up, get healthy, focus on life outside of politics then definitely do it. We need healthy, strong, focused resisters for the long haul.

15. My real problem with the Bushes is that they don't believe most of the stuff they run on

but have seemed perfectly willing to use wedge issues that don't reflect their personal beliefs to achieve power and influence.

I don't think they are personally racist, they seem to value education, and I don't believe that they are personally opposed to abortion. The older Bush even resigned from the NRA because of their heavy-handed mail campaigns. Yet, they are perfectly willing to subvert their rather moderate, old-time Republican values to use things like gay marriage, gun control, and abortion as wedge issues, they were willing to stoop to using the likes of Lee Atwater and Rove to run their campaigns, and they clearly had no scruples about disenfranchising voters in Florida to win.

I think the deal with the Bushes in general is that they are inculcated--socialized by the older generation of their clan--early on with the idea that the ends justify the means, and that some of the means are dirty, but it's A-OK in order to further enrich their family and maintain the dynasty. And, of course, inflict Republicanism on the country, because the social order should be rule by the aristocracy over the peasantry.

Without gagging. I hated his agenda, I hated his party, I really hated his vile Vice President.
Almost child’s play in comparison now.

I knew Dubya was a good husband and a good dad. That was his only saving grace.

I watching Henry Gate's show last night (Finding your Roots) and one of the people he had on was Ava DuVernay - director of Selma.

They showed clips of Selma and Ava spoke about her stepfather being from the area around Selma. When again reminded of what people stood for then, said to my partner, we haven't done nearly enough with our marches, and speaking out, we really haven't done anything compared to what people did for civil rights.

More than resist - we have to increase our involvement, speaking out, gathering, working to register voters and getting people to the polls.

33. I've done the same as you. I just found out there are 3 local chapters of Indivisible near me.

Went to their websites. All 3 have basically nothing posted since March. We need to be organized and united. I just don't see that happening.

We're all commiserating and pledging our resistance here and on other social media, and it's good to know we're not alone in seeing the madness, that isn't stopping Trump. Every tiny victory we've had has been steamrolled over (see EO killing the Obamacare we worked to save) and there are countless horrific things being done in all departments of our government that most don't even know about.

And then you think of the average American who would also be pretty horrified if they understood all that the Trump admin is doing, but most people do not have the time or energy to keep up with even the most well-publicized stuff. Unless there is a massive, well-funded effort to sound the alarm so no sane citizen can ignore it, this nation is going to fall irretrievably to this fascist regime.

I don't know if it was this thread or another where someone expressed similar feelings of hopelessness, and some accused them of being a RW troll. Holy fuck, I am one of the most liberal people I know and have been forever. I'm not looking to lower morale, I'm saying, it's not looking good. We are not winning. With all the disenfranchisement and election tampering, even if we get huge numbers of Dems to vote GOTV, we easily may lose again in 2018.

Ajit Pai, current head of the FCC, wishes to destroy 'net neutrality', essentially turning the internet into a 'walled garden' controlled by rich corporations and individuals.
