Why Americans Dont Give a Damn About Mass Shootings: CNN

http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/06/opinions/why-we-dont-give-a-damn-about-mass-shootings-robbins/index.html

Mel Robbins..9pm

(CNN) — One month ago, the worst mass shooting in US history took place at a country music concert in Las Vegas. Fifty-eight people were killed and more than 500 people injured. Bill O'Reilly boiled the massacre down to six words: "This is the price of freedom."

I hate to say it, but he is right. Sunday, just 34 days after Vegas, 26 people were gunned down and about 20 others were wounded during a church service in Texas. And here's what is really sick -- we won't be surprised when there's another mass shooting next month. Maybe it'll be your church, your mall, your concert or your movie theater. That's the price of freedom

In America, we are free to stockpile weapons. We are free to order ammo online. We are free to outfit our guns with bump stocks, like the Vegas shooter did. This is the price we pay for freedom, alright. The freedom to not give a damn

Tweeting "prayers for the victims" does not equal giving a damn. Feeling bad for a day or two does not equal giving a damn. Changing your Facebook profile photo to support the victims does not equal giving a damn.

Giving a damn requires us to commit to solving the problem. And the fact is, we have a serious problem in America with gun violence

their tidal wave PR offensives, paid-for senators blabbing endless talking points on every cable news channel after every tragedy. We're tired of the same old lightning-quick "THIS WASN'T OUR FAULT AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SAYING IT IS" reflex, the same old imaginary scapegoats (How's that NRA Mental Heath Initiative going?), overt and veiled threats to all politicians who don't shut up and toe the line, the endless GET YOUR GUNS BEFORE THEY'RE BANNED advertising after every tragedy, and the assholes who want to open carry at a daycare center just because they can...

We've all been cowed into submission. The Gabby Giffords incident planted the seed in our minds that there's always a #2A patriot lurking ready to gat us and everyone in the immediate area just so he can say to the world that "Big Gummit" will never grab his guns....

Never has been. Never will be.Their weapon of choice can be a vehicle, knife, firearm or something else. It is ALL about a mind gone bad.
Attacks of this type happen so often in the USA that we have become somewhat desensitized to each new attack.

9. It is simple. The USA has more "nutcases" than anywhere else on Earth.

The US healthcare system is a criminal enterprise instead of being focused on actual patient care. Many of the total incompetents in Congress don't even want people to have healthcare, let alone mental healthcare. The USA is currently a total f'ing mess whether anyone wants to admit it or not. We actually create more mental health issues such as the opioid epidemic. Mental Health Care is NOT on the priority list of the incompetents of Congress. Our most mentally ill country will only become more mentally ill as time goes on.

approve gun laws. Since 98% of shootings is committed by American males, go to the sourse...GENDER! It is obvious that the Americam "manly man" has to have a gun to feel complete. There was a good, short article in Time mag.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysistrata

Lysistrata is an ancient Greek play, 450 BC that made fun of the wars between Athens and Sparta which consumed both governments and the population. Ongoing forever it seemed. The women in both city-states get together and propose that as a team, they would not agree to any sex with their men, unless the wars were stopped completely. While it is a comedy, there is an incredible truth in this play..

That truth is, as I see it, would there be as many wars if all, yes all the leaders of the world were women ?

Women often have a way of negotiating that men do not have..So, what you propose isn't new. Let the women decide.. Might work, couldn't be worse then what we have now...!!!
