Could this be a trigger for another real estate collapse and recession? How many condos would be sold at bargain basement prices!

*U.S. penalties getting worse, Russian leader warns lawmakers
*New effort to lure funds home includes waiving 13% income tax
President Vladimir Putin is using the threat of additional U.S. sanctions to encourage wealthy Russians to repatriate some of their overseas assets, which exceed $1 trillion by one estimate.
Putin told lawmakers late Monday that a new capital amnesty program was needed given the foreign restrictions, which instead of lessening are now worsening, ..MORE

Frightening thought, if they could pull it off.
But they will fail, and their dream will become a nightmare as their International crime syndicate is about to be destroyed.
And they will go down with it all.

(3,115 posts)The bleakness that the Dump and Poot regime has inflicted on us all in such a short time is despicable. It's like we're in "The Neverending Story" and the Nothing is trying to suck us in. Don't sink into the Swamp of Sadness!!!
Bring down both of these fucktards. And the entire Puke party, because they've all revealed themselves as soulless bastards. Of course, they've done it before, but this time their masks are off and the flaming skulls from hell are available for all to see.
Fucking McLipless.

(6,288 posts)Forces are at work in Mueller's favor if we are hearing murmurs, cuz we're kinda the last ones to find out.
Mueller and every ally we have around the world.
Arrests are not only to take place in the USA.
Our allies also have all eyes & ears centered on one purpose. The end game is complete destruction of the global threat of the Kremlin's organized criminal enterprise.
We're not on our own in this mission.

(13,524 posts)But meanwhile, late this year, Lithuania, Canada and the U.K. have passed the Magnitsky Act, with Estonia having done so last year.
I know the US matters a whole whole lot here, but also, if the Bloomberg story is correct, well then, SOMEthing is keeping pukin from his dough, right?! And I like hearing that kind of news, darnit!!

(21,621 posts)Argentina's Trumpian president, Macri, recently tried something similar to lure assets stashed offshore: a 5% tax, full secrecy, and no penalties legal or otherwise (some of the names leaked out anyway, including the presidential family's).
$130 billion was declared - and Argentina's economy is about a third of Russia's.
I should note, though, that of the $130 billion declared, only 5% was repatriated. Putin might find that getting jet setters to declare their funds, and actually getting them to invest them at home, are two very different kettle of fish.

(21,621 posts)Let's hope 2018 brings a real tidal wave of news as far as Mueller's probe into this den of thieves called the Trump White House. Other than little Barron, there doesn't seem to be a one of them that doesn't belong in jail.

The US & its allies absolutely must destroy Putin & Trump asap. I believe they all well know the danger of who they are dealing with.
This is who he is:
