Alisyn Camerota Loves Doing Journalism at CNN, After Doing the Opposite at Fox News
The New Day host talks to The Daily Beast about making the transition from Fox News to CNN and why shes so glad she quit Twitter.Source: The Daily Beast
Well, I do feel very lucky that Ive been able to work at both. And working at both informs what I do every day. I got a real education at Fox from being around so many conservatives and you know, having my antenna attuned to bias, in either direction. So I think that it has helped. In some way, cable news is the same in that youre always up against a deadline and youre always rushing out for breaking news. But, obviously, the big way that its different is that Roger Ailes had a very particular mission statement. Roger wasnt a journalist. Roger believed in good TV and presenting what he thought was the counterbalance to what he called liberal media. So thats not what journalism is. Im just so struck every day by, now, all the stellar journalists that I work around. And its freeing not to have to conform to a mission statement like that.
Oh, god no. It just isnt the case. Jeff Zucker is never telling me how I have to do a story or what questions I have to ask or what questions I have to not ask. Never.
Yes.
Well, I can only tell you that I have a quad box, which is what we have in TV news where we monitor the other channels from our desk. So in the morning, on the anchor desk, Chris Cuomo and I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching what some of the other networks are doing. [Laughs] Chris and I will just have engaged in some high-calorie burn of an interview with somebody from the NRA or a politician and well be holding their feet to the fire. Then well look to the quad box and over on some other network theyll be doing a pancake eating contest. That was happening this morning and we always stop and marvel at the different life that we have in morning news compared to some of our competitors that have a much more morning zoo approach to their programs. [Note: Fox & Friends celebrated National Pancake Day during the 6 a.m. hour on Tuesday.]

(58,785 posts)sometimes every bit as blatantly. Like the time she explained away the Republicans' healthcare bill having NO package of "essential health benefits" (including little things like coverage for ER visits, office visits, hospital stays, ER, labs, prescription medications, maternity and newborn care, and others) by waving that hole in the chart away as the thing that makes older people who don't need it pay for maternity care.
I'd feel obliged to give this Fox shark a bottle of water and call 911 if I found her broken down in the desert, but she wouldn't get a ride from me.

(58,785 posts)As are, notoriously, fascists, who are overwhelmingly conservative, with only possibly a few authoritarians from the far left. (Liberals are the anti-authoritarians, and they don't work for Fox, or stay long, for really basic reasons.)
Unless this body claims next that she's had a brain transplant and that Camarota's was disposed of, I wouldn't believe this. She's tying to sucker everyone as usual, restyling her image as needed for success in her new job. Like her hair.
And I wouldn't believe her boss, Jeff Zucker, that he made Trump a national figure admired by all the idiots who were drawn to the very highly authoritarian figure presented in "The Apprentice" and that he is hiring people away from Fox just to maximize profits. There's a big pattern here.
