Why Piketty is right to recommend that Democrats "go left" to win votes:

French Economist, Thomas Pickety, says Democrats will win more votes if they address economic inequality and other traditional Democratic concerns about workers. A Pro Publica article underscores how messed up the economy is for average Americans:

Today, we are reporting that over the past five years IBM has been removing older U.S. employees from their jobs, replacing some with younger, less experienced, lower-paid American workers and moving many other jobs overseas.

We’ve got documentation and details — most of which are the direct result of a questionnaire filled out by over 1,100 former IBMers

If you don't know which of the two you stand for then you haven't been paying any attention at all.

The next two elections we will either be Left or Right.
Conservative or Liberal.

Btw. No one has to ever remind the Democratic Party that they have always been Left of Right.
There is no "More left".
There is only Us vs Them. Left vs Right. Same way its always been.

Democrat vs Republican.

What are you, Propublica?
Maybe Stop fracturing the only Left there has always been.

We used to win back when we focused on economic issues and tried to raise all boats.

I am not sure what we are focused on now, but we aren't standing by all working people.

Age discrimination is a terrible thing in the workplace. Wages need to rise. We need some form of single payer, something that spreads the high cost of today's medical care across as many billfolds as possible.

We need relief for people repaying student loans as well as affordable education and post-secondary vocational training.

We need safer schools, better public transportation, better roads, help for the poor, fewer, maybe even no homeless, more home ownership, more help and stability for renters and so much change on economic issues that affect the lives of most of us ordinary people.

I'm just starting with the obvious changes we need to make.

Then we should have elected Hillary Clinton.
Every single thing you mention was in her platform, as well as how it was going to be paid for.

Why do we STILL want these things?
We had a leader who was prepared to give us that.
But..?

In other words, the left needs to stay left of the right.
As they always have.
Dems aren't the problem. Stop electing Republicans.

How many times do we have to cover this? Let's remember the Quist campaign in Montana, eh?

But I'll read the article you posted since my bitterness needs the cool clear waters of a good investigative journalist!

We are already in favor of universal affordable health care, rational and humane immigration policy, diplomacy instead of military action whenever possible, universal education, affordable higher education, a strong social safety net, effective regulations on financial institutions and corporations to protect citizens from predatory practices and maintain a stable financial system, universal voting rights, much higher taxes on wealthy families and businesses, higher minimum wage and better working conditions, equal rights for women and all minorities, etc. etc. etc. We also choose to make change through the political system instead of armed revolution, and realize that using immoral or unethical means to win elections taints the good we hope to achieve.
