1. how about a new national "right to vote" act...
it won't pass the senate and the asshole in the white house will veto... but that will piss off a lot of people.

3. They have A LOT of work to do.
Where to begin, when the Republicans have left us with so many priorities.
We are at critical mass, it will take a strong, knowledgable & unified group of our most respected & dedicated leaders leaders to maneuver through the dung heap left by the rotting hard core of the GOP. What a mess to clean up. We have good people who are capable & willing to do just that, we just have to give them their place of power back. That is the job of we the people. #VOTE BLUE |

9. It was all in candidate Hillary Clinton's policy platform too.
Reforming the voter process by simplifying voter registration & create a National Voting Holiday.
No wonder the Repubs silenced her voice & kept her from becoming President. She called for Voter reform & an end to Citizen's United, & restore the Fairness Doctrine, among the many positive policies to benefit America, our allies & the Citizens of this nation. To give power back to the people, went against everything the Republicans & their dark money owners stand for. They would not have it.And here we are clawing our way back to a reasonable government. #VoteBlue |

2. I would raise the minimum wage first
To show working families that not all politicians are the same, and that voting matters in a very real way that directly affects them. It shouldn't take long to craft a minimum wage legislation. Whereas campaign finance and healthcare will probably take longer to write a bill. I want to see real action from a Dem Congress within 30 days. What a contrast to GOP do nothing for working families for 8 years.

Until we win the whitehouse and have full control of congress.

6. All we need is veto proof majorities.
And making any president veto what most consider good legislation is always a plus.

12. Yes. And a Dem majority controls the comittees.
Think Grassley, & his role in Kavanaugh's nom.
It is critical that we take the reigns of the committies from the Repubs. |

24. Why didn't we do that under Bush?
I happen to agree with you, that passing good legislation and making an opposition president veto it is a better way. It makes him/her the bad element.
But we didn'yt do that. We simply never attempted to pass the legislation, whimpering that if we did Bush would veto it. So we never made him actually do it. It made him look better and made us look like a bunch of whiners. I suspect Democrats never wanted to pass the legislation anyway, because it was better for their corporate donors not to do so. Do not think that they will do anything for us if they regain the majority, for the same reason they didn't last time. They will do what favors their corporate donors, not what is in our interest. |

26. Then why was one of the first bills passed
when Obama took office was to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25? No, it wasn't high enough, but it was a heck of a lot better than $5.15.

18. MAKE HIM VETO IT ANYWAYS
Yes, that was meant to be in all caps.
Republicans kept sending Obamacare repeals to Obama to veto. It fired up their base and they took over the Senate in 2014. Democrats laughed at the Republicans repeating the repeal over & over, but it kept the GOP base engaged and they won every single close Senate race in 2014 - that was a mega NINE seat pickup. Republicans went from having 45 seats to having 54 seats. Send him minimum wage hikes - make him veto it Send him campaign finance reform - make him veto it Send him a bill to protect Mueller - make him veto it. Send him a bill to protect insurance coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and make him veto it. Send him bills to protect the environment, Planned Parenthood, election security, etc and make him veto them. Then run against Trump in 2020 by saying that if a Democrat wins the White House, we can hike the minimum wage, protect Obamacare, etc. And, the Senate map in 2020 is a lot friendlier to Democrats than 2018. |

19. +++ This is what we have to do
Stuff everything down his throat. Make him go on record against everything.
It would be hard to get all that done in 2 years but we have to try. Look at how little the GOP Congress has done in 2 years - next to nothing! ![]() ![]() |

but, the Senate has confirmed a record number of judges these past 2 years and got two SCOTUS nominees on the high court.

25. They don't want to take the chance that he might not veto.
Their corporate donors do not want these bills passed.
They think Trump will veto them, but they can't be sure. He is unpredictable. Besides, anyone who votes for these bills loses corporate donors. They will never pass these bills. |

27. Democrats ran on increasing the minimum wage in 2006
That was part of Howard Dean's 50 State Strategy - it was on the ballot in a whole bunch of states and was proven to help turnout.
Bush vetoed CHIP renewal as well. Children's Health Insurance Program. The veto was sustained, so Democrats sent him a new bill and the veto was overridden. |

14. Yes, That is Key
The GOP voter suppression & election meddling tactics have been honed to perfection over many election cycles.
They have intentionally created a system which stole the rights of the people to choose the course of their govt. The success of the GOP has always been about theivery. |
