Nadler Statement on Reported FBI Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

*"We have learned from this reporting that, even in the earliest days of the Trump Administration, the President’s behavior was so erratic and so concerning that the FBI felt compelled to do the unprecedented—open a counterintelligence investigation into a sitting President and his possible cooptation by a hostile foreign government.

"There is no reason to doubt the seriousness or professionalism of the FBI, as the President did in reaction to this story. Indeed, his go-to complaints—about former Director Comey and Secretary Clinton—do nothing to address the incredibly serious nature of these allegations. In the coming weeks, the Judiciary Committee will take steps to better understand both the President’s actions and the FBI’s response to that behavior, and to make certain that these career investigators are protected from President Trump’s increasingly unhinged attacks."

11. A combination of both

with a nice big dose of blackmail, and a serious can of whoop-ass to ensure he actually followed through with his instructions.

IMHO

13. Both probably, depending on the act in question. In his mind he's infallible,

so he probably has convinced himself he's done nothing wrong. He has a justification for everything, nothing is his fault, which makes it really tough for a prosecutor to determine "intent".

Interestingly, if he ever is convicted, he'd probably prefer that people think he was a "witting" accomplice rather than a dupe.

4. The Senate may not have voted to protect Mueller

but now that the public knows about the FBI investigation (and of course Mueller already knew about it) Mueller's investigation will be more difficult to destroy. This is proof that Mueller is necessary now more than ever and the results of his investigation will not be able to be kept secret from the public by the GOP. Thank God we GOTV and won the midterms and now have oversight.

6. To me, it's proof the agents in the FBI have the utmost integrity

Even if they harbored the strongest of anti trump beliefs, they kept a lid on this investigation all this time.
