1. Lester Maddox was my Gubnor, despised him as much as trump. Still have to explain to GOPers that

Dixiecrats weren't really Democrats. I wish I didn't have to dance around that issue, but it is true that Dixiecrats ran to the Republican Party over the years after the Civil Rights Act.

Maddox was similar to trump in that he rose to fame by chasing Black people out of his restaurant with pick handles and guns. The cretin even sold the damn pick handles for "souvenirs." Maddox was an embarrassment like trump

Love Dick Cavett.

My last memory of the old coot was I was awaiting a battery in Sears and saw him stumbling around the parking lot, looking for lost coins. Jeeezus, and now these fools are back.

3. Were you old enough to vote when he ran?

That was the only election I ever voted republican.

4. Just barely, wasn't particularly political at time. Hate to admit I didn't vote in 67 or 71.

6. Didn't realize that Lester had an identical twin. He's the one that looks more like a horses ass.

7. Truly fascinating stuff

I knew of him from his being on Carson and otter TV but I never watched his show. Have no idea what channel it was on.

8. He used to have a great comedy show on radio late at night in the nineties. He'd play old stand up

and record cuts.

On TV he was on ABC mostly and PBS and had a show on CBS in the mid seventies for about three months that was prime time and a combination of talk and variety.
