The agony and the ecstasy of the Mueller report
Could Mueller really have not realised how this gargantuan document would be summarised, warped beyond recognition, by Trumpworld? The hopeful, at least, found comfort in the hints at other, as yet unknown investigations. Was that the plan? Or is Mueller, like everyone else, only human; fallible, and prone to missing the obvious?
----------------
Muellers decision to not make a decision still seems far from the total exoneration, Trump is claiming. In fact, the totality of the document is incredibly damning. In the 200 or so pages about obstruction of justice, there is barely a pamphlet of exculpatory evidence. And what there is isnt great: Mueller muses, for example, that there might be a chance the president believed he had never told McGahn to have Rosenstein remove the Special Counsel.
Innocence by way of amnesia. It reads almost like a parable: the man who never forgets and only tells the truth, and the man who never remembers and deals in lies. No wonder the whole thing felt biblical.

(17,972 posts)The authority to indict. That is what so many do not understand. The rules in the Justice Department made that impossible. He simply laid out the facts in methodical fashion, transferred as many cases as he could to other Courts. Even that was done with Justice approval.
Barr tried to circumvent the process. He knew the report was to go to Congress for action, yet put himself as Judge and Jury. That backfired on him big time with a Democratic House.
Thank God we have that. McCarthy, Jordan, Meadows and Scalise would have closed it down. Why do you think they are whining all over? Everyone of them belong t9 the Freedom Caucus that was created to simply destroy. They were neutered in this last election. Now we need to do the same to the other 2 branches..
I have faith in, This too shall pass! Or if you prefer the 37th Psalm. For the wicked shall spread, like the green bay tree, but do not fear, they will be brought down!

(23,003 posts)He didn't care what drumpf did, he was not going to indict a repug president, never ever was, he's not a hero, doesn't color outside the lines and agreed to follow Justice Dept. procedures. His BS about drumpf not being competent to collude is totally that - BS. Especially when a large part of that issue was farmed out to others - why? Russia was the center of his mandate, why did he farm out counter-intelligence issues - because drumpf is guilty and he already committed to no indictment. I think this will become glaringly obvious if he testifies fully.

(23,003 posts)I get what you are saying - however - he didn't even interview one of the worst treason weasel criminals - jared, no interviews of the presidents children although they were cozying up or Russia with every ounce of strength they had. He's letting drumpf off the hook for criminal conspiracy for totally specious reasons, there was plainly a conspiracy with Russia and the fact they weren't great at it doesn't mean they didn't break the law. Mueller seems to be part of the protect asshole oligarchs at all costs crowd because there's n way any Dem would be given this amount of latitude - no way in hell. This proves he is at least partially partisan IMO. I really had high hopes and expectations for Mueller, so I say this with great sadness.
Of course, the Justice Dept. could have had a much heavier thumb on this than we know and they may have refused interviews of the kds or drumpf & have leaned exceedingly hard on Mueller to use a different std. in judging drumpf than just the law??
