Hillary Clinton: "Classic Pattern" Of Fascist Takeover Is Happening Right Now In The United States

Hillary Clinton warned during an alumnae event Saturday at Wellesley College that fascism is coming to America. She cited Madeline Albright's book, "Fascism: A Warning," and sounded the alarm: "The idea that it can't happen here is just old fashioned, my friends."

"The demagoguery, the appeal to the crowd, the very clever use of symbols, the intimidation, verbal and physical," she said. "This is a classic pattern. There is nothing new about it, it is just different means of messages being delivered."

She did not use the president's name but said: "There is nothing normal about undermining the rule of law. There is nothing normal about attacking the press. There is nothing normal about trying to undermine another branch of government. There is nothing normal about trying to use the political system to go after your enemies. There is nothing normal about any of that."

"I am a very worried optimist," Clinton said. "If you care about this incredible experiment that we have been engaged in now for 200-plus years, then you have to be concerned about this."

I would put the decline in basic manufacturing jobs that provided gainful employment for high school and those of lesser education as the major factor. This is the group of people who have been affected the most by automation and globalization and most susceptible to manipulation. It is not limited to the United States, but throughout much of Europe and Asia. It is fertile ground for demagogues to make ridiculous claims that they can turn back the clock to the industrial revolution that produced massive employment. The situation will only intensify if corrective action is not taken to provide the necessary training and education to meet the demands of the information age. It is also during these period of transformation that religious extremism increases. The warning that fascism with come to America wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross is an accurate observation of what is transpiring in our life time.

There is also an important and crucial attempt by the Republicans to transform the presidency into an authoritarian office. This is not a new development, but one that has been seriously neglected by the free press. Under the title of the Unitary Executive Theory president Nixon, Reagan, both the Bushes and now Trump have pursued this fundamental destruction of the separation of power that the founding fathers knew was crucial from the presidency being transformed into a dictatorship no different in function from what they had accomplished by challenging the divine right of the monarchy.

What facts exists that low wage workers are content with the status quo. The crucial gage is level of education. Unfortunately, you will find that many of those in low wage jobs will believe the propaganda and are supportive of the Republicans.

every time i read about her or hear of Hillary's name i feel pangs in the pit of my stomach.

That said, earlier today i moved my Hillary books from the bedroom bookshelf to the living room. I live in deep red Tx and i don't care at this point if anyone who comes to visit us are offended. I have plenty to tell them if they diss her. I can also show them the door.

I watched a speech he made about 10 years ago or so
he never once made that gesture during the speech so common in his speeches today
Eye opener

Trump and miller are not as stupid or harmless as some Dems think
trump is manipulative and experienced in creating a sensation for profit and a media high profile
Now he is using the experience to create an ideology to follow with Millers help

The liberals who chuckle about oh that’s a silly harmless thing.
Who can seriously worry about signs like that having any power ? have lost reference to
“ our germany’s Greeting “ as Nazis called it . Used to unify fascism it became an increasingly very powerful symbol of what Germany was

The salute soon became part of everyday life.[37] Postmen used the greeting when they knocked on people's doors to deliver packages or letters.[37] Small metal signs that reminded people to use the Hitler salute were displayed in public squares and on telephone poles and street lights throughout Germany.[38] Department store clerks greeted customers with "Heil Hitler, how may I help you?”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_salute

Those who say oh I’m biracial or Muslim but I’ll just use it in jest to get along with others in a photo or something to that effect >please read the wiki link
Jews were eventually forbidden to use the salute even if they wanted to use it!

Fascist are not big on real fair elections and democracy. They like rigged elections. It's the only way they stay in power.

First the RepubliCONS stole Al Gore's win with the bush Supreme Court in 2000(Go back and read because he did have more votes in Florida than W).

And now they stole Hillary's win. You can't have fascism if you are going to have real fair elections.

Maybe we should have done something about rigged elections before now.

There seem to be a large number of people in the U.S. who believe that there is nothing to fear from changes that are coming because they will be among the favored. In other words, they will be safe. As a result of the change, a lot of “undesirables” will be run out of the country or locked up where they won’t be a problem any more. America will be a good place to live again. A Utopia.

History is a subject for nerds is a real way of thinking. What’s behind me is not important. So they know not what can and will go wrong with fascists running the show. Ignorance is bliss.

The Republicans in Congress are in on the swap, so why would they try to stop it? This is a dream come true for some.

A startling number of Republicans were compromised during 2015-16 by accepting money, favors and information from Russia (and probably others) so that any efforts to uncover the truth of what happened in the 2016 election will reveal their conflicts of interest/crimes. So they can’t enthusiastically embrace the investigations without implicating themselves. The Russians knew what they were doing when they bought these members of Congress.

A large number of Americans have buried their heads in the sand. They have bills to pay, jobs to do, children to raise and care more about whether their team will make the playoffs. They don’t have the time or the interest to care what’s happening under their noses. Somebody else will read the Mueller Report and besides....didn’t tRump (and others) say he was completely exonerated?

the current democratic model is "fascism lite".

It's an uncomfortable truth, but I warned about the military commissions act of 2006 on this very forum, and how it leads to inherited powers.
