Donald Trump Has Worn Us All Out

Donald Trump’s presidency has baffled me, enraged me and above all saddened me, because I’m a stubborn believer in America’s promise, which he mocks and imperils.

But last week his presidency did something to me that it hadn’t done before. It absolutely flattened me.

I woke up Saturday, made my coffee, shuffled to my computer, started to glance at the news and suddenly had to stop. I couldn’t go on. Trump had yet again said something untrue, once more suggested something absurd, contradicted himself, deified himself, claimed martyrdom, blamed Barack Obama, made his billionth threat and hurled his trillionth insult.

That was all clear from the headlines, which were as much as I could take. He had commandeered too many of my thoughts, run roughshod over too many of my emotions, made me question too many articles of faith.

Maybe America, maybe even the human race, can't be saved.

Maybe we shouldn't.

My brother, sister and I are all on the same left page. They have kids who are married to people we suspect of voting for Trump. One is currently an army pilot and has deployed 4 times and up for another deployment. We have agreed to not talk politics at family functions. Reasons being: We will not argue with the army pilot and we love all the others.

My brother has an old chicken coop he revamped as an outdoor den/ kids pool toys storage. We find that the 3 of us will be smoking in there and not even talking. We are all talked out. One of the grandkids was walking by and the 3 of us are sitting silently. Child says, "What are you guys doing?" We said, "Discussing politics".

it is chapter 8 in the "How to Become a Dictator Handbook". Stay angry my friend...take care of yourself, get rest, but sleep with one eye open and be ready for anything as we get closer to the election and even worse after the election if he loses. He is hateful and spiteful and doesn't particularly give a shit whether or not America succeeds or fails as long as he is getting rich and getting tons af attention.

For all the “This is not normal!” shouting (enough for it to become a running SNL joke) in the early days of the administration, it was obvious that, the longer Trump remained in office, the more it would become “the new normal”...and never more so than since the end of Mueller’s investigation, when we all had to come face to face with the reality that no relief was coming until the end of 2020 at the earliest. And it will become the permanent normal unless we refuse to give in to the exhaustion and keep fighting for our very soul until then.

My outrage has morphed into a seething anger that threatens to explode on the first MAGA hat nutcracker who crosses my path. I've kept it in check so far, but one day...

where George says, "This is beyond BO, this is BBO" when referring to a bad body odor lingering in Jerry's car. We are BA (Beyond Angry). I guess our mascot should be the Angry Birds on overdrive. Fortunately I am not around people much anymore because I would go off on anyone pushing their hate filled RW agenda anywhere near me. I live in a blue area and my hand made anti-tRump bumper stickers and earrings get compliments from strangers instead of keying my car as a reaction. I won't have a GOP person as a friend and I do not let them in my house (really not too hard since I pick and choose my friends. When I got too sick to clean my house I asked the person coming in to help if she was a Republican before I would let her in, she is a Dem and now we are friends (shared hatred of the GOP is one thing we have in common). I don't hide how I feel, especially when I feel as passionately as I do about the GOP.

without turning it off. Every day he says something stupid and he is caught telling numerous lies. But nothing he does loses his base, it's all just fake news. There is nothing he could do that would surprise me even starting a nuclear war.
