Ohio Was Set to Purge 235,000 Voters. It Was Wrong About 20%.

When Ohio released a list of people it planned to strike from its voting rolls, around 40,000 people shouldn’t have been on it. The state only found out because of volunteer sleuthing.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The clock was ticking for Jen Miller.

The state of Ohio had released names of 235,000 voters it planned to purge from voter rolls in September.

Ms. Miller, director of the League of Women Voters of Ohio, believed thousands of voters were about to be wrongly removed.

Over the summer, the Ohio secretary of state had sent her organization and others like it a massive spreadsheet with the 235,000 names and addresses that would be purged from the state’s voter rolls in just a month — a list of people that, state officials said, some part of the bureaucracy flagged as deceased, living somewhere else or as a duplicate. The League of Women Voters had been asked to see if any of those purged qualified to register again.

Ms. Miller, who spends her work day helping register people to vote, scrolled through the names and then asked herself a question: What was her own voter status in the state?

She went online and discovered that her name had also been flagged as an inactive voter. The state was in the process of removing her from its voter rolls.

The GOP in Ohio keeps power through cheating. In 2004 I worked for John Kerry and I still
remember after the election cases of people who had been voting for >20 years who were
still living in their same homes who were purged from the voter rolls and did not find out until
election day.

Went to State to run,( Kettering was ready to kick him out of office for lying that he still lived there) he filed Law suit after law suit, even on election day, fired 2 officials from Montgomery County. The got their jobs back through the Court, refused to work for him. Husted closed Precincts, threw people off the rolls illegally.

I still do not believe DeWine and Husted won honestly.

Of course they didn't because for them to have won honestly you would have had to have
250,000 voters cast their votes for a liberal democrat in Sherrod Brown for US Senate but
then turn around and vote for conservative republicans for Governor, Sec. of State, and A.G..
And the GOP was surely not going to give up the Sec. of State's office with re-alignment of
the districts coming up.

The GOP has been cheating with "those machines," voter purges, and gerrymandering for
years. Ever since they passed HAVA (help America vote act) we have seen a "red state shift"
in voting that does not match the changes in demographics or the wants and needs of the
majority of Americans. McConnell knows it is dirty system and does not care.

BTW living in Columbus I was well aware of Jon Husted's living arrangement .... he lived in
Arlington and one of his kids went to the day care my son had gone to. But he is a good
"Christian Man."

Worst piece of junk I have ever seen. We trained on them. My Republican judge said,” They were a piece of junk.” We had to fight to get paper receipts. They jammed, twisted, worse than old fashioned adding machines. We did not have enough memory cards. A small Precinct, it was much worse in the cities.

I vote absentee most of the time. Supposed to be new ones for 2020. They are testing them now.
I live right off I 70, but have many friends in Kettering.

John Boehner did the redistricting. I hope they redistrict Jordan right out the door.
