Kansas City girl knocked unconscious in racist attack after telling boy 'my Black is beautiful'

The Kansas schoolgirl was beaten by an older boy while playing with friends

A Black girl in Kansas City, Kansas has told authorities she was beaten and harassed by a boy in what has reportedly been characterized as a racially-motivated attack.

According to local FOX affiliate WDAF-TV, Brandi Stewart said that on Friday evening her 11-year-old daughter, Nevaeh Thomas, was playing with a group of friends outside an apartment complex near Shawnee school when an older boy began calling her racial slurs.

When the child attempted to stand her ground, informing the 12-year-old boy that, “my Black is beautiful” he allegedly responded by knocking her unconscious with a pole.

“She suffered from a concussion,” explained Stewart. “She has stitches inside and outside of her cheek, she lost her tooth.”

OLATHE, Kan. — A 12-year-old boy is on house arrest and an 11-year-old girl is so badly injured she ended up in the hospital. The fallout of a weekend assault, labeled a racial attack.

Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe says his office is working on getting to the bottom of what caused the child to use racial slurs and then pick up a pipe and hit the girl in the face.

Eleven-year-old Nevaeh Thomas is recovering after she was attacked with a metal pipe by a 12-year-old boy in Shawnee on Friday. It happened during a play date.

Nevaeh’s mother says the boy walked up to her while playing and called her racial slurs. She responded with ‘my black is beautiful.’ That’s when Nevaeh said the boy hit her int he face with a pipe.

2. I can't believe it

this is less than 3.5 miles from where I grew up in Shawnee Ks (not Kansas City Ks).

It is literally a few blocks from where I went to high school.

When I was living there, racism had no place...

I know Kansas has gone hard right in the decades since I left... but not in places like Shawnee... at least I used to think that.

Sad.

But there was the incident at the Jewish synagogue in Overland Park and then the racist shooting in Olathe. All places in and around the same Johnson County KS that used to be so much better. So glad my wife and I moved out of that state. So sad for my Jayhawks that stayed behind.

Who else would be teaching the boy to be a racist? Kids aren't born to hate, they are taught at home.

I hope that little shit is given a harsher punishment. A metal pipe Is a deadly weapon. I know hes a kid but idgaf. Hes a little Hitler youth in the making

Seems to me that providing an environment that nurtures this behavior is defective and wrong. At the least poor parenting and at worse doing harm to the boy.

to journalism? The victim is called "black girl" but there is no mention of the assailant's ethnicity. What the hell?
