Trump may end up at Rikers Island by the end of 2023 if he loses re-election: legal experts

'If President Donald Trump loses re-election, he could find himself the first ex-president to be charged with a crime.

More than a dozen investigations are already under way against Trump and his associates, so his potential legal exposure is "breathtaking," according to New York Magazine columnist Jeff Wise.

"You might think, given all the crimes Trump has bragged about committing during his time in office, that the primary path to prosecuting him would involve the U.S. Justice Department," Wise wrote. "If Joe Biden is sworn in as president in January, his attorney general will inherit a mountain of criminal evidence against Trump accumulated by Robert Mueller and a host of inspectors general and congressional oversight committees. After the DOJ's incoming leadership is briefed on any sensitive matters contained in the evidence, federal prosecutors will move forward with their investigations of Trump."

Trump could try to pardon himself on his way out of the White House, which would certainly complicate matters, but Wise believes that Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. would likely charge the president with falsifying business records and tax fraud.

"To build a fraud case against Trump, Vance subpoenaed his financial records," Wise wrote. "But those records alone won't be enough: To secure a conviction, Vance will need to convince a jury not only that Trump cheated on his taxes but that he intended to do so."

Unfortunately for the president, his former attorney Michael Cohen and longtime accountant Allen Weisselberg have already signaled they're willing to cooperate with prosecutors and both would have strong evidence to prove Trump's intent.'>>>

2. The positive about this is almost all the investigations is they're State charges. The only person

able to issue pardons is the Governor, & those in NY WON'T be pardoned by Cuomo!

4. Methinks, asap trump can't hide in Oval Office - trump should be arrested, w/o bond, jailed

as flight threat. Then, indicted and convicted on a simple, uncorruptible, criminal count.

Let him appeal from the imperious throne of his jail cell.

13. Definitely a flight risk.

I think if Biden wins, the minute he’s sworn in he should immediately revoke trump’s passports so he can’t leave the country. And plans should immediately click into place to watch the airports, railways, and seaports so he can’t sneak away. Be watching the limo services, too. No escape. If he can get to the Crimea he’d probably come under Putin’s protection. Just my guess.

17. If Biden wins the Election, and Senate, and traitortrump denies obvious Election results, gets

crazier, and even crazier. Republicons, individually, then, have some calculations to make . . . [boggles the mind]

5. Cyrus Vance is part of the mob. He's not going to let trump go to jail.

We need to get crooks out of government.

14. I have no confidence in him.

After the 2008 debacle he went after one bank. It was a very small ethnicly Chines bank which had sold no bad mortgages. In fact, the issue was the customers had understated their income on mortgage applications. He spent $10,000,000 prosecuting them and went 0 for 80 on the verdicts. Meanwhile none of the major banks or their officers were charged with anything. i assume he is either incompetent or corrupt, or at least open to political persuasion.

who will be left to tell us what illegalities are going on? Crooks are the eyes and ears.

10. As much as I'd love to see that...

Trump won't hang around long after he's beaten in November. My guess is he'll get his ass out of this country before 12:01 on January 20th. I'm sure Putin has a place for him.

16. I disagree. If he is frog-marched out of the white house, he's going to go back to being

a huge voice of division, fascism, Nazism, racism, misogyny, and hate. He will be the "greatest victim of election theft the world has ever seen"..."everybody is saying so"....

It will be on 24/7/365, and the media will keep it rolling.

11. Cheating on your taxes implies intent.

“Vance will need to convince a jury not only that Trump cheated on his taxes but that he intended to do so."

If you cheated you intended to cheat.
Mistakes are another matter; an “I did what?”
But to cheat takes work and intent.

would love to see this!

Not sure it'll happen, or just timing is off.
NYS AG Lettisha James - maybe she can push Vance?

Definitely have to keep an eye for him and family trying to escape as said above - by sea, air or land.

I don't know if Putin would take him in since he's no longer of use to him.
