The ACA is going away....

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by applegrove (a host of the Editorials & Other Articles group).

Idiot Boy is trying to take away the ACA, and it will be seen in the SCOTUS on the 10th of October.
If the court has only 8 persons seating, it could end up in a 4-4 tie, which sends it back to the lower court decision, which was to scrap it entirely.
If the new judge is put in her seat, it will be a 5-4 decision to scrap the ACA, so either way, it will be repealed.

Plan on it happening, because either way, it is going to be repealed.

If the Republicans are successful in repealing ACA, they'll no doubt go after SS and Medicare. That's always been they're goal.

If it is repealed, House and Senate will have to pass a stopgap, at the least. Yeah, there’s a small chance Senate decides to do nothing, but not likely.

I think the SC allows it to stand, without the mandate. Worst case, repeal ACA, but provide a 2 year transition.

Whatever, the answer is to vote and contribute.

9. The SC can only strike down a law, if they rule it unconstitutional.

The court has no mechanism for a '2 year transition'.

Doesn't the court usually sit on decisions until June anyway? We may not hear the final word until then.

the entire court case by convening the House and have them repeal the individual mandate provisions. Since the penalties for the mandate were eliminated the mandate doesn't have any teeth anyways, it would effectively change nothing with the other provisions of the ACA.

I've seen some speculation that not just Roberts, but also Kavanaugh is unimpressed with the new argument, and may vote to overturn the lower-court decision. It's possible Gorsuch may do so as well.
