Lincoln Project Cofounders Reveal The Secret To Pissing Off Trump

10/12/2020 03:14 am ET

The president’s conservative critics also point out the key benefit to triggering him.

The Lincoln Project’s cofounders told “60 Minutes” on Sunday night that they love it when President Donald Trump sees their ads and lashes out in response.

“Every time Donald Trump loses his mind and throws things at the wall because a Lincoln Project ad is up, that takes the whole campaign off track,” cofounder Rick Wilson told the CBS News show. “There’s one thing you never get back in a campaign. That’s a lost day.”

. . .

“We have a standing buy on Fox News in Washington, D.C. with ‘Fox and Friends,’ Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity every night,” said cofounder Reed Galen, referring to the purchase of constant ad time. ”[W]e know he’s in the residence with his super TiVo watching.”

Trump is known for watching Fox News in general and those three shows specifically, often calling into them, giving shout-outs to the hosts at his rallies and tweeting about what’s on the air at any given time.

1. I did not realize they were on Fox. I wondered where they

appeared, because I never see them on CNN/MSNBC.

12. Yes, they're all to some extent cut from the same cloth

and they'll be back at us by 2022. Steve Schmidt in his public interviews is critical of the Clintons for some vaguely stated 'self-dealing', and seems to think "illiberalism" a virtue. Would hate to get on his bad side if in his circles. So yeah to some extent, even with the high-minded intellectualism thrown in, it's all clashing egos.

9. Doturd is a fucking moron.

What a waste of American resources the last 4 years have been. Even my 20 something son, whose never cared about politics, has said to me it will take years to fix the damage Doturd has wrought on the nation.

Sharp kid.....

10. I think TLP has done a lot of good

but I also think they are pitched at an elevated inside intellectual level, are self-congratulatory (not that they're not having fun), and tend to overstate their impact on the campaign and on Trump. But hey, if you got the bucks, and you can do it, have at it

13. And doesn't do one constructive thing about the pandemic.

Trump is known for watching Fox News in general and those three shows specifically, often calling into them, giving shout-outs to the hosts at his rallies and tweeting about what’s on the air at any given time

15. Great feature on them.

I didn’t realize they were holed up in a Utah compound together! I despise what they’ve stood for in the past, but apparently they do as well now. So I’ll accept their help with gratitude.

I still think expanding the Democratic vote is more important than nibbling away at the corners of Republican support, but both are vital.

It’s a dogfight this time around, one we must win. I’m very glad these guys are doing a lot of the dirty work on our behalf.
