A Crusade for Something Noble: James Carville

Morning inspiration

In just a short time, America will go from its darkest hour to its finest hour.

What this moment has done for all of us—for all those who have sat on the sidelines of history or never were presented with something that held as much gravitas—is that it has given us, for one fleeting moment—the moment we’re living right now—a sense of common purpose. Common purpose of which we will be able to recall forever: that when our country and our Republic were on the brink of collapse, when our fellow Americans needed us, we took a blow torch to our past differences, our former conflicts and our old rivalries, and we fought together.

...as I sit here, wonderstruck in retrograde, I can say with certainty that in all my years, joining in this crusade to take America back from the brink of destruction is the greatest thing I have ever been a part of in my life.

This crusade is something noble.

1. I understand what he's saying...

... I've always been highly emotional about my votes.
I've felt proud or determined or important as I pulled the lever or darkened the circle.
I always felt a bit taller somehow as I left the polls....
... I've felt hope or sorrow as the results rolled in - shed tears of joy or disappointment as that special Tuesday ended...
... this year, I cried as I posted my ballot -- I've never worried before about my vote not counting or violence as one side protests the results ....

I've voted every cycle for 50 years ...
... but this time is different....
... intellectually, I know the sun will come up regardless of the results...
... but will I want to acknowledge it????....
.... GO VOTE...
... we'll have a mess to clean up as we start repairing our country - but we can do this together ....
.... GO VOTE....

3. Me too!

Over the past few months, I've made countless masks, done GOTV in my local area, and have bitten my nails to the nubs over this election. I was so happy to see confirmation of my vote.

I am hoping the kids feel the same. This is a turning point in our democracy.
