US Republican Rep Greene says ‘no one cares’ about Delta variant

Congresswoman’s allegations highlight how COVID-19 has been politicized in the United States.

A controversial rising star in the United States Republican Party, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has tweeted comments dismissive of the threat from the Delta variant of COVID-19 as President Joe Biden, a Democrat, pushes for greater acceptance of vaccines in the US amid a newly rising death toll in some areas.

“No one cares about the Delta variant or any other variant,” Representative Greene, a newly elected member of Congress from Georgia, said in a string of tweets she called a “message from America to the Swamp” unleashed on July 5.

“They are over covid & there is no amount of fear-based screaming from the media that will ever force Americans to shut down again,” Greene said.

I maintain a topical news feed on all things COVID and reading the recent news articles on the Delta variant has me very worried, especially when I read stuff like this.

Brace yourselves friends. I fear we have some rough spots ahead.

1. Our family does care.

A man and his pregnant wife and his father have all come down with it. (they have all been tested and have the variant.) The couple have a toddler who his father was caring for as the couple are both in the hospital. The father feels very ill and can scarcely care for the toddler. The father had both vaccines. The son was scheduled to get one. They all have the variant. Living with the father is his wife (both in 70's) and 89 yr. old grandmother. We're worried for all of them.
