Americans Will Need Masks Indoors As U.S. Heads For 'Dangerous Fall' w Surge In Delta Covid Cases
MSN/CNBC, July 8, 2021.
- Already the dominant variant in the U.S., delta will hit the states with the lowest vaccination rates the hardest this fall.
- Authorities in Australia, South Africa and Asia have recently reintroduced curfews or other measures to curb rising delta outbreaks.
- High vaccination rates in the U.S. and the warm summer months have bought the country some extra time, but outbreaks across the world are giving Americans a preview of what may come this fall.
As the highly transmissible delta Covid variant continues to spread rapidly across the United States and elsewhere around the world, scientists and other health experts are warning that indoor mask mandates and other public health measures will likely make a return in the U.S. this fall.
The country, which just celebrated the Fourth of July with some of its first large gatherings in more than a year, is headed toward a "dangerous" fall season when delta is expected to cause another surge in new coronavirus cases, health experts say. Already the dominant variant in the U.S., delta will hit the states with the lowest vaccination rates the hardest unless those states and businesses reintroduce mask rules, capacity limits and other public health measures that they've largely rolled back in recent months, experts say.

(41,102 posts)vaccination levels hopefully rise significantly. And Covid cases which are already in the pipeline multiply.
In the face of what's coming people better get over fear, ignorance and opposition re vaccinating and masking, if they want to survive. It's best for all but if they can't manage that we're in deep trouble.

Humans in massive numbers do not recognize the means to survival.
They are encouraged to approach death or long term illness. And they approach.

How about a federal law that addresses the unneceassry healthcare costs and the continuing emotional impact on our frontline healthcare workers. Make these people pay for their ignorance.

(7,429 posts)It's an economic reality. Not getting vaccinated places a big portion of the economy at the mercy of health care costs, and the economic repercussions associated with sickness, death, and debt. I have no idea how this kind of action can be Constitutional, but it's emotionally gratifying to think of a moral and economic solution to abject and willful ignorance.
