Counting ALL of Romney's political contributions - includingthose of Fox news channel
Recognizing that Fox News Channel is a totally partisan operation, I wanted to compute the value of all the disinformation, Big Lies and general Bullshit which Fox News Channel puts out over their cable channel, which is to the advantage of the Republican Party (and whoever their presidential candidate is) and to the disadvantage to the Democratic party and President Obama, since he became president.
To compute the value of the time spent promulgating Bullshit, Big Lies and general disinformation against the Dems and for the GOP I thought I would use the advertising rate given the level of viewership. I used a rather lower rated show, to rule out any distortions due to non-linearity of advertising rates for higher rated shows. I found that America's Funniest Home Videos has an viewership of about 7.5 million viewers ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Funniest_Home_Videos ) or about 10 times that of Fox News Channel.
I used the 30 second rate for AFHV of $80,000 to compute a market value of about $15,000 per minute for FNC. If you assume about 8 hours of political disinformation per day on Fox and that if you compute the total amount for the period since Obama was elected (Nov 2008) about 3.76 yrs, that comes to a street value for Fox news Channels contribution to the Romney campaign of about $1.25 Billion.
