Glenn Beck signs 5-year $100 million radio deal

http://www.usatoday.com/money/media/story/2012-06-11/Glenn-Beck-100-million-5-year-contract/55522332/1
LOS ANGELES – Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck has signed a five-year, $100 million contract to continue his morning radio show with syndicator Premiere Networks.

The details were confirmed Monday by a person with direct knowledge of the deal. The person was not authorized to speak publicly about the deal and requested anonymity. The contract was earlier reported by The New York Times.

It marks a big pay bump for Beck. His last contract with the Clear Channel subsidiary was reportedly for $10 million a year in 2007.

The Glenn Beck Program is the nation's third highest-rated radio show, behind The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Sean Hannity Show.

And then get on the air and tell us that teachers, police, and firefighters are grossly overpaid for the services they perform (which is usually an outright lie about the annual wages of those occupations).

I just wish someone would have the guts when on a panel or discussion with any of those people to say, "What service do you provide that justifies your salary being 400 times the average salary of people who save lives and educate our children?"

All the creative, talented, informed, caring people struggling to survive these days and ignorant asswipes like this get this kind of a deal.

It's just fucking wrong.

.... interest in keeping a big block of know nothings all stirred up. I doubt that Beck's
show makes money but as long he and the other right wing talking liars keep up their
act it is a good investment for the rich and powerful.

My own theory is that many programs on basic cable are aimed at dumbing
down America or what I call dumb fuck T.V. ..... some dill weed catching turtles, dumb
asses having interpersonal problems while gold mining, red necks building weapons that
nobody needs, rich nasty women having problems, and so on. I think it is all made to
dumb down America and Glen Beck is a symptom of that too.

and pitted against the enlightened Americans in order to continue win elections is the goal. $100 million is peanuts for what they'll get in return.

Someone needs to pull the licenses from Clear Channel and other "conservative" mega-monopolies. There is no benefit for the general public from a Glenda Beck anti-American pro-fascist show.
