Not knowing where the suspect was at, they could've been shot, they could've been killed,
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Chris Olivarez defended the response in an interview Thursday with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, who asked the lieutenant to walk him through “what exactly law enforcement was doing for 60 minutes or so while the shooter remained in that classroom killing those kids and teachers?”
Olivarez said that, while the goal for law enforcement during active-shooter situations such as the one this week in Uvalde is to stop the killing and preserve life, officers did not initially know where Ramos was located when they were shot at. “At that point, if they proceeded any further not knowing where the suspect was at, they could’ve been shot, they could’ve been killed, and that gunman would have had an opportunity to kill other people inside that school,” Olivarez said. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FUCKING COWARDS !!! 1. I thought the police were trained to locate criminals.
And to locate shooters.

3. Some of the parents were able to locate their children and evacuate them. Safely.
Texas cops need to lose those dumb ass hats and get some courage.

13. I'm all for gun regulation so don't jump me.
But an AR lomg gun with a clip
Is the same as a long gun rifle that goes bang bang with a clip One bullet per finger pull, semi autos. The only thing different about them is the way they look The AR styles are popular as some prefer the way they look The cops likely have similar weapons in their trunk |

5. Police are trained that the most important factor in any situation
is “officer safety.” Nothing is more important. Ever.

7. The only other thing they are qualified for is flipping burgers.
And that doesn’t pay six figures to someone with a GED. Police “work” does.

8. Lots of overtime and fat pensions.
I have a bunch of cousin cops and you would not believe how much money they make. Large urban well known police force.
I know they have worked hard and are in danger, but so are a lot of other Americans who make squat for salary. |

9. I'd believe how much they make. A sargeant in a large metro police department
can easily make between a quarter and a third of a million dollars a year. A patrol officer makes more than $100,000. As for the danger, it’s only the 22nd most dangerous occupation in the country. Garbage men are 2 1/2 times more likely than a police officer to die on the job. The number one cause of death for police officers is traffic accidents, in large part because they routinely speed, and don’t wear seatbelts.

Training manual: Officer's first priority is to 'confront attacker'
Guidelines on handling active shooter situations in the state's commission on law enforcement training manual that was obtained by CNN say an "officer's first priority is to move in and confront the attacker." The 2020 manual says carrying out that first priority and confronting the shooter "may include bypassing the injured and not responding to cries for help from children." "As first responders we must recognize that innocent life must be defended," it says. "A first responder unwilling to place the lives of the innocent above their own safety should consider another career field." All law enforcement officers in Texas are trained on those guidelines. https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/28/us/uvalde-texas-elementary-school-shooting-saturday/index.html Please link your SCOTUS decision info. |

17. The same thing happened at Columbine.
While kids and teachers were being slaughtered, the police said it was a "hostage situation" and didn't go inside the school.

19. Just follow the sound of gunfire and children screaming.
Or wait for the parents to get their guns (Texas is an "everybody carries" state, after all) and follow them into the school.
