Alito lashes out at critics: 'Questioning our integrity crosses an important line'

https://www.rawstory.com/justice-alito/

Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito this week responded to criticism from his liberal counterparts on the nation’s highest court.

“It goes without saying that everyone is free to express disagreement with our decisions and to criticize our reasoning as they see fit,” Alito told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. “But saying or implying that the court is becoming an illegitimate institution or questioning our integrity crosses an important line.”

CNN noted that it “is rare for a justice to issue such a statement when asked for comment about an ongoing controversy.”

Insane people need to have their judgment questioned. I suggest John Roberts have Alito involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

must have touched a nerve, the nerve that comes from knowing that the guy that appointed you lost the popular vote, and as such you are illegitimate. Same with all of tfgs appointees - half the court is illegitimate and Alito knows it.

And to all the good peeps - in memory of William Rivers Pitt, above all, illegitimi non carborundum!

... good that Alito recognizes "...questioning our integrity crosses an important line." That lines has been crossed, and he should know. I believe it was crossed by Bush v Gore earlier and, certainly, Ginnie Thomas has contributed additionally to the stench.

“ saying or implying that the court is becoming an illegitimate institution or questioning our integrity crosses an important line”

The line from denial, putting medieval magic beliefs ahead of duty to the constitution and the country is the line that divides insanity and narcissism from rationality and service to the nation.

Hie thee to an asylum. And bring your friends.

Poor little white male misogynous pig, you cite one law from the Middle Ages in order to roll back women’s rights for the 21st Century and everyone’s up in your shit, amirite?

Or, to quote Alito in his own ruling, the justices “cannot allow our decisions to be affected by any extraneous influences such as concern about the public’s reaction to our work.” So stop whining now, pal!

I think he's over the hill where law is concerned. He's demented and deranged. The more he opens his mouth, the more he makes it clear - he needs to be in a nursing home - not sitting on the highest court in the land.

Look... I'm not being ageist. I'm 66. There are things I can do, and the good Lady knows there are things I just can't do anymore. And generally, She gives me the grace now to know the difference. Alito and too many others of the early boomer years just don't "get" it. They're too old. Life has moved on. Society has moved on. They're not putting the genie back in the bottle.

Rules are going to have to change. We can't do this "for life" thing any more. There are going to have to be term limits within all areas of government, or we're going to pay for it in all kinds of ways, as we've been seeing. A person gets to a point where they can't see they can't do the job anymore, but they've got enough respect and cred that no one wants to tell them to go sit down. And believe me, I ain't talking Alito here! (LOL)

We're always going to run into generational changes, tho. We need to step back and let the new generation take over and move us forward. We can advise and consent when necessary, but we should not rule on what kind of world they will have to live in, while we lay collecting worm dust in the ground. YMMV

Alito and that whole crew are obviously partisan. Any esteem I had for the SC vanished with Bush v Gore.

Alito is a special case. He is nakedly partisan like Thomas. He reputedly had a significant hand in the writing of Citizens United decision.

But that was just a warmup for Dobbs.

When he reasons—which isn’t often—he doesn’t reason well.

He is capricious and cruel and is completely undeserving of any benefit of the doubt.

I’m very sure he is well paid off the books for his efforts.
